Engine sounds randomly go away then come back

Happens in single and multiplayer. Sometimes when I restart the race the engine noises will be gone. I can hear everything else but the engine. Then the sounds will come back on their own randomly, then go away again.

I found a topic with the same issue but it looks like the problem wasnt fixed

Did you set the audio quality to medium ? High audio quality setting seems to fail for some sound cards.
And it has definitely not been fixed yet (not seen as high priority issue atm).

Thanks for that info - it seemed to fix my same problem
