ManiaPlanet is the worst single bit of software I've used.

Seriously I've had viruses that have been more fun than the ManiaPlanet experience.

- The whole beta key experience is one giant headache, you couldn't have just put it where you can enter keys in your account. No it has to be this whole confusing process where you think you're buying the game. So you keep backing out as you're not there to buy the game only to work out that you put it in the voucher thing and it takes the price away. Took me ages of trying to find the menus, the whole website interface is a mess, like why is the account login some small link?

- When you install the game it installs all the files in another location to where you actually want. You have to then work out that Common data files are not just something similar to personal data files where it's some download thing from a server. No they're actually the game and you're installing ManiaPlanet in one location and the game is the CDF folder......

- Why is it you install ManiaPlanet each time with a game? Why can't it be smart enough to download the games from ManiaPlanet and install automatically? No instead you have to select the CDF and PDF folders again and it's just slow and cumbersome.

- Oh look I've installed ShooterMania beta 2 but now TrackMania nor ShootMania load into a server any more... why the fuck is that? I have no clue, the whole install process is a mess, I thought installing the game into my previous TrackMania CDF and PDF location was what I'm meant to do? If not why isn't it? Why isn't the whole thing a seamless experience?

- Now I load up ManiaPlanet I do so from TrackMania and ShootMania shortcuts, why doesn't it just launch from ManiaPlanet and you pick what game you want to play? No instead the menus just want to keep switching between the games. I go into TrackMania, try to get into a server but then exit and it brings me to the ShootMania browser? Wtf? What is going on with the menus? They're a mess, just one big clusterfuck that is so hard to navigate?

- There are no servers for any of the games? I wonder why? Is it because ManiaPlanet is the worst PoS ever, even buying the game from the website is difficult. Maybe it could be because the server browser defaults to your region instead of world giving you the impression there is no one on. You know how long it took me to work out how to select world? I didn't even know it was an option until someone told me the first time round playing TrackMania 2. Even when you select world though, there is only like 1 ShootMania server and 3 or 4 TrackMania 2 servers that are populated.


I cannot even be bothered to work out why the game wont load, maybe I have to restart or something after install? I dunno, I'm just going to uninstall instead. A shame because I love playing TrackMania but ManiaPlanet just ruins the whole experience.

Seriously just use Steamworks and copy the GTA:SA MTA Mod menu design which is based on Valve's old Menu design for games like HL2. You know that worked, easy to understand, quick, everything you want is on the front page and it has a server browser that is good. Oh look the graphics options are in the game, I don't have to keep exiting the game to change them. Maybe then we could get new car models on Steam workshop instead of that god awful process you have now.

Well this is a very sad story scaramoosh. It's sad because yet again, someone's having problems with software on their computer and they want to blame the software manufacturer.

You seemed happy enough with this game then....

From your description, I think maybe your system needs some TLC So you've had viruses? Really??? Maybe it's time you bought some antivirus software so your system doesn't get screwed up like this.
