[B2.1b] [B1.2b] block 6-1-4 shadows

Post by Mikey »

Maybe its just me or my imagination. But please check block 6-1-4.
It seems to have a weird double light source shadow effect as you drive thru it.

can you please post a screenshot, and tell your settings when you did shadow calculation (both settings in configuration, advanced, display, compatibility, and the selected quality in the editor).

I first noticed this while playing a track that had this block. Further testing in the editor duplicated the behaviour.
As the block it self is sort of mirrored. the effect happanes twice, once near each end of the block. As you pass those points the shadows move around your car from back to front. but simultanously on both sides.
settings
settings
block 6-1-4 bad shadow
block 6-1-4 bad shadow
This happens on all computed shadow levels i have tried.

It looks like this block has additional light sources.
Since the shadow is calculated in realtime (stencil shadow or another technique), it is most probably not due to the lightmap.

I think it is from the lights of the warning signs, because they create those additional shadows ( i could see 3! in evening mood) on both sides of the block.
So in fact, if they were real light sources, there should be 5 different shadows

Btw. you can see the same shadows on start block.

So those shadoes should not be visible at day mood, good finding!

Bad, when I wanted to save the map, after testdrive (no validation), TMC crashed :teub:

It still exists on old maps, but if you create a new map, a new version of this block will be placed instead.

The canyon loop blocks.

To bad, thanks for the feedback, I have updated the version in your original title, hopefully it does not get forgotten
