How can it be the average player level is lower than mine, but I still can't connect?
Or is it only because the server is new, or there is no one playing at the moment?

This message is as far as I know displayed when there are no players on the server indeed (no players = lower current ranking on the server than yours).

Then the solution would be to do the check the average rank only if there are players online, or to compare it with the minimum necessary rank otherwise
