Well problems with this is that TheCastle is a map that hardly gets any playtime these days. Due to it's layout it tends to be very defensive boring gameplay.
Also the lack of fences is a problem. Fences would be a laserdefenders strongest position due to it canceling out the wh handicap for the attacker.
It's just not a good map choice for a test.

Well if by "balance" you mean change the way the gameplay is in a fundemental way, then yes. However if you want entertaining, highskilled, fastpased, streamfriendly gameplay made for esport. Gameplay where attacker moves around trying to get defenders to rotate, make mistakes and pick them off before it all comes to a climax in the end of the turn. Then no. Any laser on defence will make that pretty much impossible. Unless you rebalance everything including armourpoints I can't see how it could work.
Unless the goal is to change the gameplay completly that is. But then its not really Elite and thats why so many have a problem with the update I think.
