If it was to make it optional, some of the thing you are describing as cool have been made available in Elite Exp and was not even tested. I know it came with other things, but when you need to test, you need to test, even if it is big changes. So, I think that the inclusion of the beta 2 Elite mode was perfectly in line with what you are saying, in order to avoid to change the game so much. And maybe you even have missed the flag that enabled to activate weapons or not. But big changes can lead to big improvements as well. It was even good for seeing how the opinions are today on the game. When we first arrive with no switch of weapon, it was heretical for some players. Now, it was a little heretical just to give an option to change at the start of the round.
the beta 3 was delivered after days and nights of work, weeks and week ends. So, the way it was delivered compared to the way some players are talking, I am really ok with our way of doing things.

My point, to clarify, is that without stating your actual goal with the changes it's really hard for player to give proper feedback. The beta3 introduced some huge gameplay altering stuff. If then Nadeo would have stated that the goal was to slow down the gameplay it might have been a great update. Then the feedback might reflect that. But when actually missing that goal, just state it to be a "test" but without actually explaining what that test is to achieve as far as gameplay goals. Well I think that kinda approach isn't good for anyone. With a clear goal its easier to discuss what changes should be made or not.
My personal vision of Elite and how it should be is a fastpaced, highskillceiling, hard to master game with awesome skillshots, trickjumps and intencity to dazzle spectators and for players to go bonkers over. The beta3 update kinda went overboard and missed every single point of that list. I hope it will get better in next update though. Only thing I dread is that nagging fear of being forced to play with the dumbed down simplified walljump. Unless it gets some needed tweaks to make them usable again.
With that said I still look forward to next patch. Always fun to see what you guys at Nadeo come up with even thou I clearly don't agree all the time.

The goal was to bring diversity. It even provides more fun for casual players, which is good to bring more people at high level. It seemed that it would take even more hours to master a maps and that some brilliant team would come up with unexpected strategy in competitions, for spectators delight. the fact that it slows down the game was not a goal.

Whatever the state of the live updates thrown out for balance currently I've seen the rail be very effective on fences as has been pointed out - double fences mean the lazer defender can not be contested by the attacker (only because time wasting benefits the defender) - Rail defenders are also very powerful when hiding behind those half height wood walls.
The fences have been a problem because they don't allow for counter play, they basically say "find another way around". I'm not going to recommend that the lazer defenders are bounced away from fences that are hit by rail fire or something but I feel that we had a problem of people still playing as if the opponents had rockets. Many beta3 games have ended entirely in teams picking rockets because lazer and nuc were just too weak, the main issue was they didn't add creatively to the current map pool, they just broke some maps and failed as viable tools on other maps.
This was naturally not an oversight by the developers but rather an oversight of the angry community.
If you do plan to keep weapon choice in the game I recommend creating a map zone tool to set area's as rocket only. This would mean you could set problematic fences to rockets and area's the map maker wants as rocket only.
Maybe a floor texture that sets weapon to rocket and still allows jumping.

You don't get any louder when you use bad words or become insulting. I tend to listen more to people that are capable to see positive and negative things all together, and bring constructive things on the table.

well the voting menue i was talking about is bugged since.
beta 2 game play vote [x] is checked the server is still set to beta 3
the voting menue is totally desinged off its having check boxes NOT realy visible and behind buttons etc.
many votings in there just simply dont work!
beta 3, weapon choice, etc etc thats what you got your Q&A for now to test such things!
here you got your, yet again, bug report. same as the server bug.
i still dont understand how you couldnt reproduce a bug like that
6 ppl on the server 1 goes spec -> 7th wants to join and it says "server full" but there is 1 slot free. you told me some days ago you just hered about that bug. and you couldnt reproduce it.. sorry it takes like 1 min to reproduce that bug and its nothing you need to study for.
your feedback selecting additude, you look for people who say "awesome" instead of listen to the guys who realy have problems with what you dooo since pretending all is ok ... doesnt work!
so again i never insulted you and if you realy think i did. you should think about stoping to read here and have a more qualified person do so. who actually makes lists of what people say here and work on that with your team.

As someone who was very upset, and vocal, about the walljumpchanges from B2 to B3 I understand your passion when you think the game is going in the wrong direction, but heck, even I was nicer in my posts about walljumps than your passive aggressive insults are here V3rdi.
