A different custom horn problem

Post by blablub »

Hi.

Maybe I'm missing something really important but after following all steps in the custom horn tutorial I still can't use my horn. But the reason is a bit different from the usual stuff: The game won't let me select the horn ingame. It looks like this:

(can't embed it)

I don't have any Trackmania games installed and can't find any folders named "TrackMania" on my hard drives, so what's up here?

it's normal that you can see see trackmania folder as the default shootmania horns are the ones of trackmania.

how is your horn called, which file type does it have and in which directory is it located?

horns are located in Documents\ManiaPlanet\Skins\Horns (if you didnt change directory on instalation) and should be a mono .ogg file

One is an .ogg file and the other one a .loc-file. Both are in my documents\maniaplanet\skins\horns.

Done all of that, that's not the problem. The problem is that the game won't let me select it. I can't click on other folders ingame.

    Of course. Doesn't do anything.

I guess it's just simple bug then?

A simple 8bit WAV is working as well.

Which format is your horn file?
    Where did you place exactly?
Did you place it there while the game was already running? Then you have to use the refresh button first.

A bug indeed is that you can only hear the sound once, at the moment you select it the first time. Then only a default click sound is audible.

But it is also true that in ShootMania this horn doesn't work, they might have disabled it completely at the moment.

    My Documents\ManiaPlanet\Skins\Horns.
    No.

Again: my problem is not that the horn is not working. My problem is that I can't select it at all.

My guess would be that it's a bug and the game expects me to own TrackMania or something.

And show the filename of your sound, even better, upload it so we can try to reproduce?
Do you have blanks in the name?
Or does it have the wrong audio format?

Perhaps it really should be a WAV ;)
