Re: Portable version of Maniaplanet
If I recall correctly, the .ini file supports relative paths. So you can have 3 folders on your pendrive : ProgramDir, CommonDir, and UserDir, with your .ini file containing
That should not depend of the drive letter. Updates & everything should behave as expected ^_^
The registry is only used for machine-related config (graphic settings and such likes). So your portable install will be able to run with nice graphics on a High-end PC, and still run smoothly on a laptop or slower rig, without requesting any changes.
I you want to try, I think you can directly do that from the setup file : just specify correct folders on your pendrive, then edit the .ini file to use relative paths instead of absolute ones, and you're all set.
Code: Select all
UserDir={exe}\..\UserDir
CommonDir={exe}\..\CommonDir

Re: Portable version of Maniaplanet
hi & welcome
This file is part of DirectX 9, "Direct 3D" subsystem.
It is usually placed in your Windows system32 folder, and newer Windows versions use Dx10 or Dx11 nowadays, which is partially backwards compatible.
If you can't access this folder, you have to ask the local admin to check and update DirectX.

Re: Portable version of Maniaplanet
Hehe. I remember a teacher who brought TrackMania to his class, as small rewards for good participation of his pupils.
Perhaps you should talk to your teacher
