Is there any chance we'll see the other 6 (significantly better) environments also getting the same treatment?
Anyone who's played united recently will attest to how the only servers that are still alive are stadium only ones (and that one coast only server) and I find this a damn shame since I never really cared much for stadium but playing alone in empty servers is an incredibly lonely affair.
Allowing free players some limited ability to play the other 6 environments as well could work wonders (perhaps give them access to the same block selections as both games had in their demos and only allow them to play on stadium, desert and island demo servers?). Not only would it ensure that (some of) the Original and Sunrise locales aren't completely dead it'd be a much more effective way to tempt your free population into actually buying the game if they can sample how much more they could get.
Currently, and I'm basing this assumption on the open beta being similar to what the free version of the game will be at release, there isn't that much to really get people to want to pay for a full copy. Not everyone is that concerned about ladders nor the editor, we just wanna race around on silly maps in multiplayer something we can do anyway without paying a dime. Now you could be heavy handed and drop-kick players off the game (and piss said player off at the same time) or you could be a lot more savvy and use a carrot on a stick approach.
Of course you'd need to make it so that changing environments doesn't need a restart of the game client first, but then I still can't figure out why you set up mania planet as a way to group all the mania games together without the ability to seamlessly change between games in the first place.
This still doesn't make it any easier for those of us who played united to swallow the fact we're expected to pay for something we already own but I don't really have any ideas there that would be agreeable to both the players and Ubisoft's stock holders.

Probably not gonna happen, from what Nadeo has said so far. And if it does, it would be worse, since multiple-environment servers are impossible in Maniaplanet! It would be nice if it happened with multi-env servers, but don't get your hopes up, we'll have to make do with TMU until they make a few good environments. Maybe Valley will be the first one...
and then wait another decade for multi-env titles to be implemented since it's low priority... i assume Questmania is not low priority?

Well think about it, in the past they always rejected about Nations coming back and all the topics suggesting for it, and they always rejected Maniaplanet on Steam and everyone begging for this, now they drasticly changed their opinions about it, and look how we are today
Trackmania 2 United would be really nice, they don't need to have new blocks, but seeing the good old environments back in a fresh new engine with a great system like Maniaplanet is, I really don't see a problem, besides it could be great for us United fans, one of my biggest dreams is to see those beautiful environments from Original and Sunrise, in full HD and great graphics from TM2, Just imagine!
Anyway, I made a little list for NADEO with a few ideas if they plan to do it, just in case
- Graphics from TM2
- HD Textures
- Original Envis and cars could share the same proportions from Sunrise and the others, we all know that they are bigger for some reason
- Improved models of the cars with more details and HD textures, and maybe a few facelifts too
- A brand new solo campaign
- could have the same price of TMUF, I would totally pay for it
- Full Maniaplanet features support
- I would ask for Remixes of musics from TMO and TMS, but if that game will come out, then new musics woudn't be bad either
- Atleast prodium blocks as the new ones, just that
- Maybe make the game free if you still have a TMUF key, or not just make it completely separated from TMUF and make it have the same price
- Damage models

Actually if they add all the environments on the same title, and separate the Single campaign with each envis like TMUF does, it's not really impossible.Zooz wrote:since multiple-environment servers are impossible in Maniaplanet!

Dear Nadeo. I think you have started a new chainreaction. People like me who loves united would love this idea. 9Also I'd love to see the possibility to have tracks imported and mods without having recked). Opps stupid rant of mine. Tho you can have all dirthill mixed in with water stay. I works im make a thread about that later.Herrick wrote:Is there any chance we'll see the other 6 (significantly better) environments also getting the same treatment?

To be honest, pure tracks without any hacking is what really matters in my opinion, and I'm really sure NADEO thinks the samext3 wrote:Also I'd love to see the possibility to have tracks imported and mods without having recked). Re: Since Stadium is being ported over...
Hacking? you forget. That sometracks to be created need to be hacked like that plus Nadeo did think about about a built in blockmixer. Also No some tracks are just amazing with the mixings. Driving in water for one.Filipe1020 wrote:To be honest, pure tracks without any hacking is what really matters in my opinion, and I'm really sure NADEO thinks the same
ALso RPG style does need it to a point. Some of the best RPG tracks made were blockmixed.

Re: Since Stadium is being ported over...
Well as each TM2 environment is a totally separate game and are only linked by it's name and ManiaPlanet, you never know your luck
If they do decide to then I hope they do it in the exact same way in which they have done it with TM2 Stadium as I believe you need that free restricted demo to let people 'Try before they buy' or they may end up with the 'Canyon Syndrome' again.
