There can be some time when you add a player before you see him/her in-game.
It can be a few minutes, and in any case, it should not exceed 30min.

I've checked your case on the chat servers, and it should be ok by now. Is the problem still there ?

A player recently reported he had used "Tuneup utilities", which did block some functions of the game, like buddy icon, chat, and server.

So please check if you also have this tool and remove it for a try.

Update: Cerovan wrote today that the accounts created with the Steam setup are not related to the accounts created previously with the regular ManiaPlanet setup. So it i spossible that even if you used the same login name the accounts are separated. Therefore you can't see the buddies that are linked with the other account.

I will do a major upgrade of the chat system within a few days at most. It should fix those problems.

Perhaps it was a translation error
There cannot be 2x the same login in ManiaPlanet for sure. Perhaps he meant a ManiaPlanet login and a Steam login.

I just tried installing the two open betas from Steam, and there ManiaPlanet is automatically using my existing login from ManiaPlanet, not my Steam login.

I've been working on the chat servers this morning (hence the downtime). It should be back for everyone now, and it should fix the bugs you encountered..
