I hate them ! I hate them so much !!
Track Creators : Please please please dont put forced view changes in your tracks.
I choose to drive in bumper view and I hate it when suddenly the camera changes and now im in 3rd person view. Most of the time the camera change itself is the worst thing, it pulls out of bumper cam at random angles and then swings around to the back, meanwhile I cant see where im going and ive just driven into a wall.
The loops are the worst, the 3rd person view will most of the time be looking down on the roof of my car, how am I supposed to line up the exit when I cant see it ?
This bugged me in TMUF and now its the same in TM2 Stadium. I hate it so much I felt the need to come onto the forums and say so. (thanks for listening)
Dev's : how about an option to ignore forced view changes ? Is that possible or am I being too optimistic ?

Re: Forced View Changes
I think this is more of a bug since TMNF than a builders forced camera change problem.
This didn't happen before TMNF, not that I remember.
I don't know if Nadeo can fix this but I think when camera 1 and 3 are looking at angle 0 degrees cam 2 is actually looking at angle -0 degrees so to go from 1 or 3 camera to 2 camera it's got to spin a quick 360.
If your default camera is 1 and you are forced to camera 3 in a loop and back to 1 out of the loop I think it's a smooth unnoticeable change when done right.

Re: Forced View Changes
I don't think that this function will come, because some authors force views to create a special race feeling (e.g. micro machines top down view) and by bypassing such modifications players would get a significant advantage over players using the cams the author gave them.sirnicolai wrote:Dev's : how about an option to ignore forced view changes ? Re: Forced View Changes
Being able to ignore clip triggers will undermine the whole idea of the mediatracker. I'm sorry your old favorite tracks don't work anymore but we have to move forward.

Re: Forced View Changes
I hate them too.
I played some Stadium tracks in first view, most of them forced me at least 4/5 times to switch again in my prefered view. It's useless to give the option of changing camera view if tracks makers can bypass it.
So yeah, maybe it gives you some nice artistic or speed feeling or whatsoever, but I don't care : it's unplayable if you do not play in default mode.

Re: Forced View Changes
have you played lols or fullspeeds? because techies normally don't force any cams...

Thanks for clarifying this.

Re: Forced View Changes
Yeah it doesnt happen as much on the fullspeed tracks, but when it does those are the times it bugs me the most. Im going so fast and looking so far ahead, I just cant deal with a sudden camera change, the only way to progress is usually to just guess the entry into the camera change section and hope I come out of it OK.Omnixor wrote:have you played lols or fullspeeds? because techies normally don't force any cams...
One thing ive come to understand, it appears im in a minority of people who use bumper cam. Seems most people like 3rd person view where maybe the camera changes arent so jarring.
Ah well, ill just continue cursing the track creators and crashing into walls.
Re: Forced View Changes
Sure, that would be the easy way. Instead of looking backwards you might try to look forward. There's another possibility aswell and that's to build your own tracks.sirnicolai wrote: Ah well, ill just continue cursing the track creators and crashing into walls.

Re: Forced View Changes
this whole forced view rant isn't needed. People don't mind a switch to cam3 (internal) in loops/wallrides as that's the only camera state you can actually see what's coming next. So if you just return them to an empty trigger rather than a forced cam, ppl thank you for it.
All maps i know use the idea of 1 camera race of 1 minute and 1 empty trigger and re-use it over the entire track.
The problem at the moment is server admins of old (tmnf) servers just batch processed all tracks on their server to calculate new shadows, but didn't take time to see if the mediatracker still worked.
This is in fact a conversion bug and already has been reported numerous times already.
(if a track has any other cam beside camera race it messes up the view and sends you to 3rd person view in loops/wallrides rather than the intended camera internal)
So in short: fault is at server admins and partly due to stadium beta.
