Hi everyone, first of all excuse me if my english is not perfect.
So, I've been playing stadium for more than 6 years now at very high level and I've tryied the trackmania 2 stadium beta. I played for about 2 hours and I can't continue playing it mainly because of one thing : the shadows. ok it's beautiful but like all the previous trackmania I'd like to be able to disable those shadows. It just disturbs me a lot, when I drive through shadows at very high speed it hurts my eyes a lot and I feel lost in the track, I hope I'm not the only one in this case but unfortunately I'll just stop playing this game until we'll be able to disable shadows.
I've noticed two other minor issues that affects my game experience:
-First one is the camera after a loop, sometimes it's good but sometimes it takes years to go back behind your car and you can't see where you're going.
-the other one, is the board that show the gap in time between players, the slightly different position of this board and the changes in the font compared to nation or nation forever makes it really hard to read while driving without deviating from the road.
I don't know if I posted that in the right section but I hope someone from nadeo will read and notice these comments especially concerning shadows. Thanks

You can turn off these effects partially by setting bloom to the minimum.
Edit: You got your stadium guys, and there is it. Nadeo will read your complaints and they'll find a solution, but by mentioning the problems a thousand times you don't solve the problem.

Shadows are minimum (previously they name was "high", renamed into "minimum" instead of fixing that) or high. You can't do anything with that, many people trying before on Canyon. This game is just made this way that shadows are mandatory.

I have a different view of this
If you could remove completely the shadows and light effect would the game be fair? Someone with shadows would be in a disadvantage as he would feel the full effect of the "I feel lost in the track".
TM² isn't TMF, there is stuff different, and sometimes it might make the game harder sometimes easier. The light effects are beautiful andI think the light should be considered as another challange. To be able to keep the car at is maximum while blinded for a few seconds.

I agree, oliverde8. I just imagine a real rally or Formula 1 driver: What if pros like Sébastien Loeb or Fernando Alonso would refuse to start, claiming: "It's too sunny today. There are some bends where I'm blinded by the sun. Let's wait for a cloudy day."
The effects of the weather are part of the challenge, I think.
I could continue with moods and mods: Should I have the possibility that the maps are loaded automatically in my preferred mood and mod where I have best visibility of the track, perhaps getting an advantage over other players who don't care?
It's a little bit amusing, when I think of older games some years ago. Back then it was (concerning the graphics) all about "how realistic are the visuals? How can we increase realism?" And today we have a discussion about reducing realism to facilitate gaming. What about a checkbox in the settings to disable the time loss if I touch the wall? Less realism to facilitate the driving?
(Sorry for the pointed remark, I don't want to offend somebody, it's just food for thought
)
But I must admit, it's not easy to make the point of departure absolutely equal and fair for all players, even if you have a lot of different options in the launcher settings. Everyone has other hardware, and (for example) those who don't find a setting that allows always and on all maps a smooth gameplay are at a disadvantage of course. I fear, we won't reach absolutly equal conditions.

Launcher -> Configure -> Advanced -> Compatibility -> Lightmap quality: None
This should disable all the shadows. For added effect, also disable projected shadows in the Game tab of the configuration.

once going back, it restores to "very fast", so you can't turn shadows off completely.
