There is a simple solution here.
Release the tool (that releases editor restrictions) as an unsupported extra, only on the forums, not advertised ingame, with a disclaimer that nadeo is not responsible for any glitches or errors associated with making tracks from the tool.
This lets the track builders that are passionate about blockmixing find and download the tool, while most users never have to even see it. This would recreate the exact same situation that arc's tool created, and I don't think his tool really caused that many problems.
Another additional idea would be to have blockmixed tracks to be marked as blockmixed in the track file. That way servers that have blockmixed tracks can be tagged as blockmix servers, and players that dont like blockmixed tracks at all can avoid those servers

Re: Official Petition we need Unlimiter Tool
i used the tool to mix block like trees nearer to the road sides, example on the narrow roads blocks, i think
block 2/block3 then block 1 & 2, i would then mix the trees at the parts where the road turned, making the trees
look close, making a narrow gap, bit like the new big trees road block...like i said before my block mixing was more for looks...i have read most of the feed back and i can see alot of people pig off...well this post i started was never for that, yes i also think the tool should be limited in some kind of way, block mixing can be messy and unstable

Re: Official Petition we need Unlimiter Tool
wow, this topic turned into a very nice discussion during the past days. i'm also very happy to see your comments, hylis, that we're working on a solution together.
just to add my two pence: i like tmunlimiter. i use if for rpg tracks, but also in for example league tracks to fix cuts. in short, i only use it to solve problems, and i think that's the main purpose of the tool (besides creating a whole new trackstyle, as eyebo mentioned).
ideally, this would be a third-party tool, just like it was before, so that only builders who know their way around the editor and are used to trackmania, will use it. however, the disadvantage is that the production and updating relies on the third party, which lead to problems a while ago (arc not having enough time anymore to update the tool, making it impossible to use in the newer versions).
however, if it would become an official tool, but only for custom titles, i think that it would make stuff like fixing cuts on 'normal' tracks a lot harder, since they are in the official title. also, i know for sure, that when it would only be allowed in custom titles, someone will stand up and make a tool for the official titles as well... i'm sure of that.
therefore i think it would be best if the blockmix-ability would be available in all titles, also the main one. maybe as a seperate editor: you now have the simple and advanced editor (few blocks and all blocks), maybe add a third, professional editor where blockmixing is available.
this way, people will know that it's a bit hard to do well, and hopefully mostly those who know how to use it, will go in the professional editor.
anyway, if we've learned something from the past: if a tool is not there, or an option not available, someone will make it. therefore i think you should either make blockmixing available in all titles, or not at all. i would personally prefer the first, since i don't fear a sudden rise of 'bad tracks'. bad tracks have always been there, and will always be there. an official blockmixing tool won't change or raise that.

blockmix is also important for the import block
since many custom blocks only go so
because if the blockmix death is also the custom block import dead

can't agree with that..
custom blocks can be placed nearly everywhere, they can be mixed together right from the start without any additional tool actually... the only problem is that they can only be placed onto the ground though

The fact that custom 3D objects only get a ground variant isn't a big problem in my opinion.
And I tend to agree with steeffeen, Unlimiter/blockmix capabilities have little to do with 3D objects, as you can place them easier than regular blocks.
As JumperJack said, the debate is really nice here. =)

Re: Official Petition we need Unlimiter Tool
I want it please!
I use block mixing to mainly cover up very small cuts and the rest of the block mixing i have done usually is unnoticeable.
Although, i can see some tracks coming out which have bad block mixing. But its gonna happen whether it be with a in game mixer or a addon like TM2unlimiter. But for the more better authors its not going to be a problem you shouldn't notice it much.

I read this Threat from the first side. I hope that i understood all of this what the people are wright.
Some Arguments i can follow. But some not.
The Argument that the Unlimitertracks are bad Tracks is not my mine.
We have the Open Beta Stadium for 1 Month. On MX we have round about 4000 Tracks uploaded. I Think that i drive more then 1000 of it. I can told you that there are 90 % of bad crasy Tracks wich was build without the Unlimiter in there.
So i say that we have no problem with Tracks under the Unlimiter. We have a problem with the Trackbuilder who load up this crasy sh.....

The thing that the tracks may be bad, but they aren't bugged, that's a big differenceFlighthigh wrote:I can told you that there are 90 % of bad crasy Tracks wich was build without the Unlimiter in there.

Re: Official Petition we need Unlimiter Tool
i still think if the maker of the track, really takes his time with a block mix track, you can make them without the flicker
as you can use other blocks to hide this effect...block mixing can be really nice...this depends on the maker of the build/track..do you want your name up there in the lights ? well after i finish a track i do not release it straight away
i play it like loads of times, making it feel much better, then send it to the beta testers, if i feel like i need more feed back, this also goes out to other beta testers if its a block mix..and i really want to know what they think, if its crap build is modded or even scrapped !! i belive my friends of tm world
but saying that i still miss coast on tmu/f, i had some nice track on there later block mix was the waver racer !
anyway bad tracks with unlimiter tool is the maker to blame, take your time and it could be a masterpiece
