[Tutorial] How to make your own playerskin!

(same figure just all the skin is red.....)

You need to remove the alpha layer. It's mentioned earlier in the thread

Is there currently no way to get a hold of the Shootmania models? I'd really like to make my own 3d one, and i saw that Shusu model that was added, so i know it's possible, but theres no information about making your own or how to get a hold of nadeo's current male and female model. Not only would it let me make a cool 3d skin for shootmania, but i'd love to use them for drivers in trackmania xD

I have an issue.

I installed the game with steam and directed myself to: c/programdata/maniaplanet/packscache/

But there is nothing in that folder. I also could not find mydocuments/maniaplanet/skins/vehicles

I got to skis but there was no vehicles folder! Any help would be great.

Hi. Got a strange problem.

I made my own skin and i can get it in game, but even after 2-3maps nobody can see it.

I tried to put the skin in :
Documents\ManiaPlanet\Skins\Models\ArenaPlayer
And then:
Documents\ManiaPlanet\Skins\Vehicles\ArenaPlayer

I did add the .loc file targeting my skin on my FTP so it shouldnt come from there.

I tried a different FTP and even trough Maniapark website.

But it doesnt F***ING work. I tried for like.... 6hours in 2days.

I hope the answer aint in the previous posts cuz i didnt read all of them (shame on me)

*EDIT* Did read every past posts. Looks like plasticorange had the same problem... but i did try with a working skin base.... same problem.

I use : DXTBMP to open DDS -> Paint shop pro and then ork the texture in photoshop and paste it back to Paint shop pro and then back into DXTBMP to compil again. (Didnt manage to make the photoshop plugin work)

1. you need to have P2P enabled in the advanced settings
2. the others also need to have P2P enabled
3. you need to have your firewalls opened to allow P2P connections

Normal.dds
This is basically a hightmap for the Diffuse.dds I recommend generating a new one if you edited Diffuse.dds

How do you generate a new Normal.dds? I use Photoshop + dds plugin, i modified only the Normal.dds, put all the files back in a .rar and placed it in the appropriate folder, but maniaplanet won't recognize it.

Back some weeks i did the same thing changing only the image on the backshield of the model and it worked fine, now i made some more heavy changes (like removed some particulars, changed colors...) and did the same process but it won't work, so i guess what i ask above is the problem, am i right?
