About Combo...

Spam.

Items zone camping.

Re-spawn zone camping.

Nucleus.

Whoever gets the items first is likely to win.

Match can get pretty baserape-like.

Over.

show bad sides of combo probably? can only agree with 2nd tbh. 3rd can be fixed by placing spawnblock in an unreachable place. about 4th - for me it's rather rail than nucleus. 5th - isn't it the point? don't get the 6th.

Feedback, of course. Don't get me wrong: mode CAN BE fun, but as it is now, it just isn't.

This happened to me yesterday: enemy respawn just some seconds before me, get out of the spawnpoint, he hear me respawning, turns around and spam nucleus + some rockets at me, while i'm still waiting for my weapons to load. Insta-dead.
Omnixor wrote:about 4th - for me it's rather rail than nucleus.
Nucleus is pretty ridiculus at close range, just spam it in between some rockets and it will surely gets you an hit.
Omnixor wrote:5th - isn't it the point? don't get the 6th.
It should be the point, but not THAT much. Which automatically lead to point n.6: if your opponents get first to the items, you'll just get raped regardless of skill. After all if you want to turn things around you need to get the items, but what can you do in a situation where your opponent is waiting for you with rails, arrows, nucleus and rockets and probably 3 or 4 armors while you only have 4 rockets? You need to close in to have more chances to hit with the rockets and be less exposed to his rails, but once you do, nucleus is gonna come at you and good luck avoiding that among rockets and arrows... so basically it's just game-over.
I think most of this though it's just a map-related problem: those being used right now are pretty retarded, expecially the one with all the power-jump block.

Oh, of course... this is just my opinion!

I've found similar problems playing it. The first time that I played the mode was the most fun mode that I played in som time, but that time was when noone known the place where the gun spawned.
Then I played against someone that know what to do in the level..., I couldn't take a gun ever, they camped, knowing the exact time that the gun spawned... and I felt very frustrated playing it.

Solutions to fix that could be.
For nº1 "spam": have a little cooldown for changing weapon and maybe let the others know what gun are they carrying, this solve the problem of overpowered weapons like nucleus and Laser.(you can deal with them when you know they are using it)

nº2 "camping items": I would like that the mode spawned the weapons in random places so the knowledge of the level didn't affect your skill too much.... Still, is possible that I'm just talking about this level with jumps in the right and left that gave to me the frustration of playing it. Maybe more separation in the items spawn points and more places could solve this problem

Still, if improved, a great mode, good job Nadeo

Nadeo are clearly trying to imitate and improve upon the Duel feeling of the Quake games where item timing, health (armor) management and map control are the pillars of winning.

My only complaint so far in combo is that 2 of the 3 maps aren't that great. Not a problem as the community will create new and awesome ones.

I don't really understand what you are trying to say. It sounds to me like you just don't like this type of game mode. That's what weapon pick up games/modes are about. You control the weapon/armor spawns to give you or your team the advantage. That's really the fun in it to be honest.

I already said it: it's not a matter of WHAT is in the mode, it's a matter of HOW MUCH of that... is in the mode.

Plus, i also said that all my complaints are probably map-related. You give this mode a well made map, balanced and with good (and more) respawn points, and it would certainly become much much better!

Maps being used now are retarded: you have just a couple of respawns (but usually you always respawn at the same one) in the middle of nowhere and so to get to the items you'll have to face your opponents (powered up and waiting for you) head on 90% of the times, and what's worst... 50% of the times you also have to use the power-jump pads!!!

Definitely. In terms of how the mode operates I think they've done a pretty good job on that.

Which is the only real "problem" with combo. Combo's fine, but the maps (with the exception of one) are pretty meh. I was playing on one of the EU servers this morning (the NA one is gone/empty?) and there seemed to be a few community maps that were surprisingly not terrible. I'm thinking it'll probably take a bit of time until the community really gets going on the maps and I'm excited to see what everyone comes up with.

In any event, the mode is great even if the maps need some tweaking.

Yep, maps'll make or break this mode. Have to agree with you there :D
