I am a known mapper myself, got a proper team of cuthunters and loads of followers.Rots wrote:I good mapper has 2 solutions to the issue you (all) expose:
-Placing checkpoints elsewhere
-Add a clip with mediatracker with a dark screen and a side note: "you ain't crossing here"
The idea sounds cool but i think it makes mapping too easy.
But i'll never title myself as a good mapper. That's for others to say!
Checkpoints don't prevent cuts, they only make cutting harder, but not impossible. Walls however do prevent cuts, but due to engine limitations walls make the tracks in tm2 too dark which then results in a lensflare facial when you get out of the darkness. (if you haven't crashed already)
And for the MT solution, (which i already killed in my 1st post) using mediatracker for cutprevention isn't gonna work now that most people have access to a 2nd pc (laptop or whatever)
You then only need to be in spectator mode and use that 2nd pc as your main visuals and voila... no black MT screen anymore.
about the "i think it makes mapping too easy" part: I'm trying to keep this "inside the box" as in: it's either this offblock or use blockmixing (which makes it unstable and, in my book, is the easy way out)
Besides, as nadeo brought the offblock into shootmania, my guess is nadeo also doesn't consider it too easy.
