As you know there are a few competitions for Elite and Joust. I tried to get used to this gamemodes but it doesn't give me that fun that team-based modes with switching off/def (like Battle, Jailbreak, Speedball) gives me.
The only thing I am missing (I played a lot TFC in a clan) is a competition between fixed teams where it would be a challenge to build and try out strategies to win the map. I know it's hard for clans to build up a team for the battle mode because teams should have at least 6 players and most players are focused on Elite.
So maybe we can build up national teams for a competition or maybe let's start with a irc-channel as a gather for temporary teams.
So are there any other players out there searching for a competition in battle mode?

Re: Battle mode competition?
I think that would be a lot of fun. Those modes, especially Jailbreak and Speedball, are dependent on good teamwork and they're a nice change from the more classic modes.
IRC is a good idea, but what we really need is a scrim matchmaking site like http://www.gamersportal.com
To answer your question, yea there are players out there looking for this. I'm one of em. Right now, I know a few guys who would be down for a battle scrim on any given night too.

We should beg gamersportal to support SM, worked well enough in BF3, and I don't want to use IRC like it's 2001.

It looks like someone has already asked Gamer's Portal about Shootmania. It's in their list for potential games, so we need to vote for it!

Vote for Shootmania to be added! It would be a huge boost to the North American SM scene if Portal begins supporting it.

Ok, I voted for SM. But is it possible to build up temporary teams with it? I think a common problem for all clans is that they don't have enough available players for this game modes.

Re: Battle mode competition?
Competition in Battle ? No way
this mode is created for casual fun, not competitive playing.

My Gamemodes:
MP4 - Countdown, Firefight
MP3 - Reduction, Overload, Flashpoint, Territory, SM Race, Escape
MP2 - Search & Destroy, Oscillation, Instagib

That's your opinion. I want to try it out on a "higher" level where you can bring the teamplay to perfection. Sometimes it can get really frustrating when your teammates are doing stupid or ineffective things that doesn't help you on winning the map.
Re: Battle mode competition?
since you don't get anything for capturing, and just a bit more LPs for winning... you can't expect smth else.

Is that true? Then I would wonder about what sense it makes to display attack/def points.Omnixor wrote:since you don't get anything for capturing, and just a bit more LPs for winning...
And most times it's not the case the players don't want to win the map but they act a little ineffective like
- "closing" poles
- tracking enemies near own base during attack phase
- all running to the same pole when 1 attacker is capturing it, then all running to the next pole because it was undefended
- not blocking poles for the last seconds of defend phase when enemy appears
- only thinking about attacking at round start except preventing the enemy getting the first attack phase, especially when failing a quick start
That's the reason I want to try it out as a team where you can focus on an elaborated team-strategy.
