[TM2] Slow/Long loads

I just purchased trackmania 2 canyon on steam today and i am experiencing long loads that are making the game intolerable. Once launched from steam everything is good for the most part up to the main menu where there is a selection of mania games you can choose from. i click canyon and this is where the long loads come in, if i try to crl alt dlt out of this the game will freeze and i will have to restart my computer. I have managed to wait it out once and it took almost 10mins before i was actually able to race and when i was racing everything ran grand until i finished.

computer specs:
windows 7 64 bit
i7 3.2ghz
9 GB ram
nvidia 480gtx

- what is the speed of your internet connection?

- Please make sure your machine is not in average power mode.
Modern machines have an automatic balancing, you can setup in Windows.
Or use a mainboard tool to set the power to max.

- Did you change anything in the ManiaPlanet configuration?

Long loading times can happen because of the following:
- slow internet connection
- new music is loaded at map change
- many players are connected to the server, and your machine is downloading all the skins

But since you wrote many minutes, nearly a dozen, I would rather think this might help:
- do not enable "light index" as this causes extra calculation that is done for every map new
- do not select "ultra" lightmap, as this also causes very long calculations

My internet speed is 30Mbps, power options are on high performance, and didnt mess with any configurations till i was trying to trouble shoot this problem i am having. Update i noticed pretty much any loading takes long from the minute i launch the game. thinking this might be a firewall problem?

But you wrote that as soon as you click on Canyon it takes long?
This should not be as the Canyon menu is part of ManiaPlanet, only that it is located in the Canyon specific files.
And it loads pretty fast normally. Only when you start the actual game (by connecting to a Multiplayer server or run a local map), then only the game engine loads all the big necessary stuff.

So either you don't have yet the complete Canyon packages on your disk yet - is the Steam update complete?
or it is perhaps a sign your disk is having issues.
How much space is left?
Is it a SSD?
Please also check the memory consumption of your system.
Are you running other applications at the same time?

Everything on steam is up to date and installed. As for space left i have 700Gb left and i dont have any other applications running when trying to play.
