Yes, ok. But in my point of view this might be a problem. The more titles we'll have, the more the player base will be splitted between new titles. And if the playerbase won't grow significantly this is gonna be a real problem, imo
I agree to you. It already is a problem.

Another thing is that the whole maniaplanet just copy-pasted nearly everything from TMF (some game of ~6-7 years ago), which copied stuff from earlier games... Because of this tons of technologies used are ancient already.
And as a result you hear people complaining about the ugly UI etc. Yea, the engine doesn't allow anything better as detailed images will look blurred in this ui engine anyway.

Hello again everybody,
All of you have made valid points, some positive some negative, for example the level editor IS amazing.
Hwever.Despite everythin, my point still stands about the game not being popular enugh.
I think Ubisoft gave up on shootmania after there were 1,5 k people watching at 100k event
This game needs more publicity.
WE, i say we, because i tend to want to speak on behaf of the community, atleast on this topic, ARE YET to see a
Reply from a mod or a dev. and well, they are the only ones i know, my friend, hes a video game writer. he was
completley declined any information waht so ever. and proffesional players that are supose to be driving the scene
are declined completley aswell.
Unles we pull ourselves together nothing will change. Harsh but true.

hehe  we will see ;)
Honestly I also doubt SM will ever be that famous, but we never know what will happen in future.
Anyways, I cannot - and I don't want to - predict anything here. 8-)

Shootmania is going now to the same number of online players as Canyon

Main reasons:
- Cost - 2 free titles is not enough for new players.
- Netcode - Few players have problems with connection and can't play on e-sport scene
- Few things implemented in game needs updates
- 0 tutorials for new players.
- Poor promotion
My Gamemodes:
MP4 - Countdown, Firefight
MP3 - Reduction, Overload, Flashpoint, Territory, SM Race, Escape
MP2 - Search & Destroy, Oscillation, Instagib

I recommend you to read the topics created by the people with orange names, they are from Nadeo, especially those from Hylis, he is the boss. He gives lots of explanations.

Just a few examples:
Hello Planet #1
Hello Planet #2
Hello Planet #3

There are blogs and infos around.
You should also look at the stuff presented at the GA.

And for short questions there is also a special Q&A thread.

What do you expect more? Just open your eyes, everyhting you need to know is already there 8-)
And if this is not enough, then please ask instead of generally complaining.

I just want information! xD

What really lacks is what most games offer:

Free For All with all weapons.. because the pole capture is not just the thing that anyone moving from
another game wants to play, like today I was at a server rail only that only supports 1 on 1 rail only.

No weapon pickups, no ammor pickups, no double teams, no multiplayers, just basic rail. I remember there was a time, in old school days, 30 to 40 rail-only players at one time.. and that was just for show-off fun, the rest of the week was norm playing.

And that was the motivation, you had to move around the map.. mark a path, get items, team up once a while, move well, and keep the frag count up. Now its move well, limit three shots, no pickups and get a easy pole.

:?: :?: This does not make sense.

Now the game has plenty of time to shift up, yet the early release was not at all needed. It should of waited for longer, keep the beta open for longer and keep it the momentum up. Yet now its slows down and is it easier to shelve it or make improvement while it takes time to sort things out.

Don't worry about it, yet I suggest for Nadeo to keep it free till version 3, it still has no tutorial, and some other add-on's need to be implicated.. Especially a proper upload for replays and a SMX online stat board. That will at least give SM a %20 boost within a few months. This is no failure.

Lets hope it gets the time it needs, meanwhile, keep on playing, see you on a server sometime..

Kadaz.

I'd have to agree with the OP, as much people want to remain optimistic about shootmania as an esport title it simply has not taken off like nadeo thought.
Yes there was IPl but that has since gone, will shootmainia see a big money tournament like that again?, chances are slim. Of course there is many other LAN events for SM but they only get slight attention in comparison to other games.

Some of the other posters touched of some of the problems the game faces e.g bad UI,lack of tutorials and that is just the start of things. There's so many little problems that exist for the elite gamemode that remain unfixed, yet we are getting wonderful new blocks with every update.

Publicity of the game especially in the USA is so poor, it remains to be scene why money was thrown at IPL tournament when nadeo was hardly even publicizing the game in america.

I'd to come back in 6 months time as see I was proved wrong by nadeo but I just don't see the game changing anytime soon.
