[TM2S Release] Missing Block Connections

Post by BLiNNeMaNS »

Thanks so much for the new blocks, especially 4-5-6..

There's just a few things missing in the final release of tm2 stadium i think were missed during testing:

block connectivity
The biggest thing however is the connectivity with the new tunnel to road transition.
the following blocks should be able to connect but don't work:

2-1-6
2-1-7
entire 2-2, 2-3 and 2-4 series
3-4 1/2/5/6

It would be nice to see the 2-1-6, 3-4-5 and 3-4-6 to be the exception.
With the last 2 it allows for smooth connectivity to blue roadblocks both in and out, with the 1st one it allows smoother transitions through air, both landing and lift-off wise.

About the blocks, there is only the connection with the straight slope, because otherwise, each connetion is a new ground block. Have to be efficient on our side on these topics if we want to have some time for everything.

thanks for clarifying hylis, appreciated. I agree that not all should be made into connections, although it would be nice to see the 2-1-6, 3-4-5 and 3-4-6 to be the exception.

I can understand why it is some work to make these blocks buildable on the ground. (btw I counted and found 25 banked blocks which could be connected in a smooth line with the newtunnelslope - One of them is possible... :0010 )

In canyon for example there are two version for almost every block. A ground and an air version. The ground version applies automatically when you build the block on the ground. So it's not a new Block in the folders.

Why add this?
The new tunnels are quite limited on possibilities to connect them with other parts of a map. There is only a connection via those exit slopes possible. Another drop from the side or jump into the tunnelblocks is almost impossible. It would be hard and bumpy.
So to make the new tunnelblocks more attractive it would be awesome to at least have nice ways for their implemention.
You already put a lot of work in these new tunnel blocks and with some extra amount they become A LOT more worthy!
Just my two cents ;)

Btw, it would help in other scenarios as well, if you were able to build these 25 blocks on the ground. It adds more quality and possibilities to the Editor, which is something that's lacking in the lastly updated developped editors/environments (e.g. blocksize, amount of details) (I'm not going to discuss this here...)

Yeah, it's a pity that most of the slope blocks can't be connected with the new blocks, but I understand Nadeo's decision. Interestingly, one of the official tracks (C05, if I remember correctly) uses such a "forbidden" connection, short before reaching a multilap block. Looks like a bit of blockmixing ;)

I would be happy if some of the mentioned blocks could be added to the list of working connections. :thx:

c05 unfortunately uses a normal connection. *(drive back at start, you'll fall off the track. you can clearly see top of the slope is 2 blocks high, which means there's a connection of 2-1-4 and 2-1-6, 2-1-4 being the straight one)

was hoping you were right

Oops, you're right, just checked C05 again. There's a straight one between...
