Why is Turkey included in the Middle East region?

In every sport and every political agreement, Turkey is a European country and Trackmania thinks otherwise.

I'm no expert on geography or politics. But I found this interesting:

Turkey is a transcontinental Eurasian country. Asian Turkey (made up largely of Anatolia), which includes 97% of the country, is separated from European Turkey by the Bosphorus, the Sea of Marmara, and the Dardanelles (which together form a water link between the Black Sea and the Mediterranean). European Turkey (eastern Thrace or Rumelia in the Balkan peninsula) comprises 3% of the country.

So shouldn't it be listed under Asia since 97% of the country is part of Asia?

Well, without taking and geo political problem in account, the most important thing is : where do you play with a good ping ? On european ? Middle east or asian servers ?

Maybe Nadeo will move your country to where there is lowest ping. I can see why that is really the most important factor here.

Concerning sports, Israel also participates in some European competitions (there are political reasons). Same can be said about Russia but it has a larger part of its territory in geological Europe than Turkey.

Anyway, I'm sure Nadeo doesn't care about geopolitical problems (like religions and all this kind of sensitive subjects) when dividing zones so ping is actually a way better argument here.
