[TM2] Controller assignment: how to unassign axes?

Post by phillipice »

Hi,

I just bought Trackmania 2 Stadium, but I'm unable to play. I have multilple flight sim controllers connected to my computer, not suited for driving, so I would simply like to drive with my keyboard.

However, when I try to drive, the car turns left and starts reversing by itself. I can get the car to move using my keyboard, but it is uncontrollable. Here is a screenshot of the controller bindings:

It seems that Trackmania 2 picks up and assigns all 3 of my controllers by default! Is there a way to clear these assignments? The axes are analog and not exactly centered, so they start to interfere with the driving even when I don't even touch these joysticks :?

Note: Unplugging the controllers is not an option, since that screws up the configuration and it takes a long time to set them up again.

Thanks,
Phillip

Well, the only real solution is effectively to unplug all other controllers.

Understandable you don't want to do it all the time.

Did you try the option to freeze unused axes, or alternative method, in the advanced configuration of the game, input settings?

apply keyboard controls several times, other bindings should be deleted then.

Unfortunately, this does not work. If I assign keyboard controls, that only replaces the two already assigned keyboard controls, not the assignments from the other devices. No matter how many times I do it, the axis assignments remain.

I did experiment with the advanced input settings, and I will experiment some more to see if it helps.

Interestingly, the Accelerate (analog) assignment is <None> by default, so not having anything assigned is supported. It seems like a pretty easy fix to add a feature to clear an assignment.

I tried to look for the file where these settings are stored, but they seem to be in a binary non-human-readable file?

Thanks for the hints.

Which is puzzling and unfortunate altogether. Don't understand why they prohibit us from changing the controller settings in a simple cfg.file?
