Valley needs a demo

Post by targetbsp »

I've bought every Trackmania game since the very first one first came out (mainly because Alpine looked like Stunt Car Racer from the Amiga!). What's great about the game is that each environment is wildly different from another. But this is also what's potentially wrong with it if you sell it episodic like this.

With Original and Sunrise there tended to be one car I loved, one I liked and one I didn't much like. This is fine when a collection of environments means there's a good chance of you liking a few of them. But it sucks if you buy an individual environment and don't like it! Now with TM2, Canyon is no contest my favourite handling car of any driving game ever. Stadium is good. Which leaves Valley presenting me with some concern based upon historic patterns!

I'm in no way suggesting valley or any previous environments I don't like are bad. Other people loved ones I didn't like so much and didn't like as much the ones I loved. It's all just personal preference.

I don't need to see many levels or my times added to the leaderboard. I just want to demo the cars handling.

Besides wanting to get to know the car and the editor
I really need to know if my PC can even handle the game. Maybe I would even like the game, but I have like 12 FPS.
I don't want to spend 20 bucks on a game that I may not even be able to play.

A kind of restrictive demo version or 7-Days-Test-Keys would be great.

The owners of Nadeo are probably scared that not many people will buy it after they tried it out ;)
If they were confident that it is a great game and the handling of the car is great, they would have no problem giving people a 7 day trial or something similar. ;)
I am not convinced. I didn't like Canyon much and plenty of people who bought Valley are complaining about the handling of the car.

I feel that thats because its quite difficult to learn, you can't pick it up as fast as canyon or stadium.
I disliked it at first too, but i fell in love after a day of playing

I read a lot of complaints in the forums as well, but while playing online, I only heard praises about the same part of the game (dirt). :) I think that matters more. (To be exact, I heard 6 people say how they liked the dirt in multiplayer, and noone disagreed.)

I know, it's hard to improve on perfection.

That's the point!
Valley is pretty challenging and even that makes it pretty awesome!

Valley really deserves more player and a limited demo for a certain time would definitely help ;)
