[TM2]Acceleration/Brake issue with Xbox 360 controller

A few months back when I was playing Trackmania 2 Canyon I had acceleration binded to the right trigger and brake to the 'A' button and things worked great.

Coming back to playing TM now that Valley was released I found out that the same config no longer works. Whenever I use the 'A' button to brake I stop accelerating and I have to release the trigger to be able to accelerate again. Same thing happens with other buttons as far as I can tell.

The only workaround I've found is binding the analog brake to the y-axis of the right stick, which again allows me to brake without releasing the trigger for accelerate. Any way to get the normal buttons or bumbers to work the same way like they once did and like it works with keyboard(able to brake while accelerating without having to release the accelerate)?
