I have to disagree. It's like saying you don't have the right to use this or that mouse and this or that keyboard for other competitive games (FPS, RTS, etc.) because the drivers have options others don't. What about allowing only gamepads and forbidding wheels and joypads? They don't have the same sensitivity so one could argue they give a competitive advantage.
Anyway, on Valley, it's useless because you need full steering on asphalt and smooth curves are slower, even on dirt.

Re: Trackmania² Valley Released!
It's not about having the same sensitivity, but about having the full sensitivity curve. Wheel, joystick, gamepad etc. all use the full sensitivity curve, but with dxtweak you can cut it off.
Re: Trackmania² Valley Released!
You are wrong, the common part of maniaplanet games/environments (ie ManiaPlanet itself) took far to long develop time to be profitable with 20€.Sheza wrote:No, I believe a sensible model would be 20 euros for the original TM2 Canyon (which I was lead to believe was the full TM2 game, complete with these updates, as Nadeo CEO stated once) and then between 5 to 8 euros per pack thereafter.Slig wrote:So what ? Would you prefer ManiaPlanet alone for 50€, then each environment for 5€ ?....
Nadeo made the choice to include ManiaPlanet in each game, so you can buy any one alone ; and made the choice to not charge the full price of ManiaPlanet on the 1st environment you buy (so making a repartition of its cost and improvement on all environments). That way each environment is 15/20€ (except TrackMania² Stadium at 8/10€), instead of having the 1st one for 50/60€ then others available as DLC for about 5€ and.

I know Canyon is a full game, but before Canyon was fully released I was lead to believe that I was buying the entire Trackmania 2, not just a single environment. That's why I stated my sensible model. It's a bit late now.The_Big_Boo wrote:Canyon is actually a full game, as Stadium and Valley are. You can search the whole Internet, you'll never find Hylis saying what you believed.Sheza wrote:No, I believe a sensible model would be 20 euros for the original TM2 Canyon (which I was lead to believe was the full TM2 game, complete with these updates, as Nadeo CEO stated once) and then between 5 to 8 euros per pack thereafter.
I'm not the one with the wheel, you're quoting the wrong guy. I am just saying that of many things wrong with TM2 Valley, input issues were a common one.zarexz wrote:I'm sorry but in my opinnion, you are totaly out of place with your wheel playing Trackmania. Of course you have the freedom of using your prefered device but Trackmania just isn't a wheel game. And since I'm being honest, I also think it's silly Nadeo even added wheelsupport in the first place. I still would say Trackmania is a stunt racer not a sim racer.Sheza wrote:I'm not sure that a game with terrible input issues (as described above you) is worth 50 euros.
There's no evidence of that. Ubisoft is a rich studio. The user interface of TM2 is lifted off TM Nations / United already so that's some part of the budget already done for free!Slig wrote:You are wrong, the common part of maniaplanet games/environments (ie ManiaPlanet itself) took far to long develop time to be profitable with 20€.Sheza wrote:No, I believe a sensible model would be 20 euros for the original TM2 Canyon (which I was lead to believe was the full TM2 game, complete with these updates, as Nadeo CEO stated once) and then between 5 to 8 euros per pack thereafter.Slig wrote:So what ? I never said the first one should be 50/60 euros either. I said, 20 euros, then 5-8 for each afterwards. As it stands, myself and many others are not willing to pay 20 euros for this underdeveloped skin pack.

Re: Trackmania² Valley Released!
What kind of ubisoft drm protection has tm2 valley and stadium (and canyon) ?? the same of simcity 2013 or something newer and strongest ? this protection has a name? the valid serial is checked only the first time the game is launched or everytimes and so is it stored in the windows registry? the valid serial is checked also during the game so it requires an always on connection?

I recall someone official saying TM2 would be "pay and stay" or something. Where all customisations and stuff would be made freely available. He was saying this to ward off claims that Tm2 should be Free 2 Play.Omnixor wrote:it was never said so, NEVER.Sheza wrote:I was lead to believe that I was buying the entire Trackmania 2, not just a single environmentstop saying this phrase, it's just wrong.Sheza wrote:underdeveloped skin pack.

Yes of course the UI is the longest part of the developmentSheza wrote:There's no evidence of that. Ubisoft is a rich studio. The user interface of TM2 is lifted off TM Nations / United already so that's some part of the budget already done for free!

A lot of new features and improvements of old features has been done too (ManiaScript, Manialinks, Game Engine, MediaTracker, Instant Chat, Titlepack system, and I will not give all it will be long).
Ubisoft has money but it's not a reason to "give" the game. Hylis say 2 years ago that each game will be at around 20€, zero surprise on at.
It's the case, each environment is an independant game and when you pay, you haven't to pay more for this environment and you have all updates "for free".Sheza wrote:I recall someone official saying TM2 would be "pay and stay" or something. Re: Trackmania² Valley Released!
I don't think is worth 20€, because i've seen many beautiful mods of tm2 canyon with green, water ,trees, grass, parks, lawns and the developers should have made some modifies to the physics of the car (and new skins to cars and maps) and on the whole game plus some beautiful mods and a bunch of some new types of roads plus some objects and things in the maps, the game engine seems too similar to tm2 canyon. for those reasons it doesn't worth 20€..
