Suggestion: Weather Settings
I believe this could be a really great feature to add for track creation, like, after you choose the mood of the track, there could be a little GUI to choose the ammount of rain, clouds, fog, wind and among other things that could make the track even more unique, without needing to affect the handling of the car, just cosmetic changes
Re: Suggestion: Weather Settings
it's too revolutionary for Nadeo, they'd probably include it only in custom title packs /s

I think that would be useless work to add it on custom titles onlyOmnixor wrote:it's too revolutionary for Nadeo, they'd probably include it only in custom title packs /s
Re: Suggestion: Weather Settings
I've seen an early ShootMania Storm video where you can choose other mood type (like Fog, Storm, Cloudy, etc).

Re: Suggestion: Weather Settings
I'd actually like to see the capability to use weather that does affect the physics like Rain, Snow, Ice...

They were experimental moods and put there only to see which one to use. The moods you saw there were probably extracted directly from canyon and were never meant to be in-gamedb89 wrote:I've seen an early ShootMania Storm video where you can choose other mood type (like Fog, Storm, Cloudy, etc).

+1
I've mentioned in another thread that perhaps we could have a rain object in the editor which emits rain particles in a certain area of the map so you can have scattered thundershowers in your map. Would look great in both Valley and Canyon.
That plus a fog setting would enhance the atmosphere and replay-value very much.
Unfortunately I have to agree with Omnixor ... this seems a bit too revolutionary for Nadeo's vision of TrackMania. If they can't even include a simple splash particle effect if you come into contact with water ...

Re: Suggestion: Weather Settings
Ofc don't forget that all that would come at the expense of preformance, with people are allready complaining about
Maybe that's one of reasons they are not rushing in adding those otherwise awesome things.

Intel i7 930, GTX470 1GB, 8GB of ram, Win7 x64, 19" CRT

Re: Suggestion: Weather Settings
In fact, it is a great idea and it would revolutionize Maniaplanet!
But I would even go further than you suggested:
To give the gameplay a new, real feeling, I would like to bind the weather to the car handling. For example, if it rains, it creates a puddle somewhere. So, if you drive over the new-created puddle you are going to lose the control a bit or even start to drift. As on the picture right here:

Or if it's very hot out there, water evaporates and you can drive over the ground! Possibilites could be endless... Just something like that.
As a result of this binding, every map would be even more unique than ever before!
It is time to start a new level of the trackmania series
