Just out of curiosity - what are those micro/mini jumps people are talking about. Yeah I have not played shootmania that much :)

Jump height is determined by how long you press the jump key. And it was (is still in Elite when servers are on Beta 2 settings) possible to do very tiny jumps really fast, and also sprint very fast, which allowed for very fastpaced movement and gameplay.

Some people complained a lot of people used macros (a key bound to simulate another keypress, like a very short tap on the jump key). I assume this is why they set a maximum jump height. It could also be because they want the game to run with a maximum jump height because of the gameplay. I haven't read much about the updates so I don't know if they've stated anywhere why

It would be nice if that happened. I think any change to the evolution of the gameplay should be explained from the developers so we get a sense of the direction of the game and gameplay they want the end product to be. Why waste our time with the game if in a year we'll have something we won't enjoy?

Here

Basically they say (at least I understood it that way) they removed the microjump because of the abuse of macros and also because there are some people complaining about the micro jump being too hard to learn.

So for the sake of fair and especially new gamers they removed it so the difference in skill is less significant and new player will have it easier to integrate into the game.

While Hylis knows that people liked the microjump because it made the game faster, and speed is fun, as he said, he thinks that is still not reason enough to keep it, considering the bad effects it has.

Basically what that means, is that they lowered the maximum reachable skill level in a game that is mostly referred to as a skill-shooter. I guess it is obvious why people start shitstorming about it.

Well at least Hylis said, there were other things to come wich we can hope could compensate the loss of one of our favourite moves in the game.^^

You should really read that topic I linked if you are interested.

I see. Could the player movement(sprint) speed (or how long you can sprint) be just increased then for faster/more fun gameplay?

I played shootmania when it was openbeta and to me the "bullets" where a bit too slow but just my option ofc.

^This.

It would be a good alternative, and the game will be surely faster than microjump meta.

Or idk, movement like a dash.
