Media Tracker Question :D

Post by danodude »

Hey guys, I was recently watching a few of the trailers for Canyon, and found myself wondering how the video's creator managed to make the track appear to be made just before the car hits the ground as in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_-Cq7NgkwQ.

Whats the special MT trick to do it, if theres even one :D

So Sprint made the trailers?

I don't know how others do it, but I would personally:

1. Make the full route and save the map.
2. Drive the route and save the replay.
3. Open the replay and export the ghost as a clip.
4. Create multiple versions of the map with different stages of the track built and save each version out to a replay file.
5. Open all the other version's replays and delete all the tracks and clips in them and import the original clip from the full track into those replays.
6. Render every replay out to video.
7. Add all the video clips to your NLE's timeline, one above the other on multiple tracks.
8. Change the end point of each clip and set a fade out on all the clips.

Doing this properly and the track will appear to be built ahead of the car as it drives the track.

Here's a YouTube video demonstrating it:

And here is a zip of the replays used to make the video:

And here's a screenshot of the way it was edited:

I got a question about MediaTracker: why is not possible to apply MT effects during the countdown and immediately after the finish line? I've made a map with rain and fog but is very ugly to see the effects start blow and the same thing for the finish, with rain and fog that disappear when you cross the finish line. Is it a bug or a wanted "feature"? :?

I agree with DB89 here! One of the MT effects I've ALWAYS wanted to add is one of those "GT-style" camera loop-arounds during the 3, 2, 1 countdown, but never could. What's the logistical possibility of this getting worked on?

Would it be the same case if it was in Adobe Premiere? I'm doing a time lapses for a movie.

Yes, you should be able to accomplish the same thing in Premiere. I'm not a Premiere user, so I can't give you an example screenshot for that NLE.
