Re: Server List and Multi-Environment Servers
Yep, it´s not a trick, hack or cheat or something like that. It´s a simple idea of 3 connected servers. Thats the only way (for me) to make multi-environment possible. And of course, 3 servers sounds more than one server, but at the end only one of them is running at the same time. Thats maybe more RAM, but in my eyes no problem. And whether the "server-movement" will be a stresstest to the servers or not, will be showed by the upcoming tests...

Not asking for much ..
But we want multi-environment servers .. please !!
And I know this has been discussed so many times. But it's a real issue I think. Forget about fixing horns, brakelights, how high one can jump in SM etc. give us servers where we can race stadium, valley, canyon etc. all in one

Re: Not asking for much ..
I think Nadeo wants that too. Must be something tough keeping them from doing that.
I don't like to complain but I thought Maniaplanet was going to bring more things together but it seems have seperated things more instead.
Environments, Racing, Stunts, Platform, Puzzles no longer from one place? Is this temporary or just the way it is now?
[EDIT]:
I see it may just be temporary.

Re: Not asking for much ..
Switching servers each map is far from an ideal solution. It may 'work', but it's not the solution we all want.serujio wrote:http://forum.maniaplanet.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=20697

Correct, even though the modes can be in one place. Environments aren't really since they are their own Pack, so splitted.Demented wrote: Environments, Racing, Stunts, Platform, Puzzles no longer from one place? Is this temporary or just the way it is now?
Maniaplanet in the way it is currently set up doesn't support multi-environment servers well at all.
The solution in my eyes is Maniaplanet 3.0.
Everything merged, but only split by the 3 games. You can download/buy additions to the game (buy environments, or download Packs). Servers simply require you to have installed several packs/environments (Environments + Packs) before joining. This concept could also make custom objects and stuff much more communly used since it's more accessible/known.
This can't be done with Maniaplanet 2.0.

I'm against combining envi's! ET is already combining and that's already bad enough!
Everyone wants to combine Canyon & Valley.. But Canyon is as good as dead (in LAN's)..
When we will combine, you give Valley no chance to grow..
We just need more support for these both games

Re: Not asking for much ..
Why do you think canyon is dead? Because everyone is playing valley. If you could play both environments on the same server, both would be played more equally.laurens92 wrote:I'm against combining envi's! ET is already combining and that's already bad enough!

Out of my own experience, I'm only playing valley because its simply to much hassle to join from valley to canyon. Therefore, I stay in the same title, once the game is loaded and finish it afterwards.
And about canyon dead in LANs. I can completely understand your frustration. Have a look at the news forOpale Areane.
The first valley LAN event on the cost of canyon. The problem is, that canyon and valley are marketed as either the successor (oh my god, I already sound like Frostbeule) or as separate titles. Its logical that the companies setting up LANs will go for the newest game. And, how many games of the same publisher are played usually in LANs? I doubt its more than two. So, the choice you have is either playing Stadium and the newest TM2 environment (at the moment it is valley, but we will have the same problem when the enxt one will be released) or play Stadium and all TM2 environments (if they could be played together). As the latter is not the case at the moment, you need to compromise. After the results of the poll made these last days, and voted by the comunity, Drakonia, Mania-Actu and E2G agreed on making two TrackMania tournaments. However it will not be Canyon but the brand new Valley that will be chosen, beside the big Stadium²!
So the E2G association keeps on innovating and bringing some fresh air to the dull French LAN landscape, this time by proposing the first Valley LAN event!
And about your comment regarding ET, I'm not sure you read the news. If you had, you would see that we are to cover both environments together and alone. But as there is no chance to play environments at the same time we are forced to split the matches between each team into one for valley and one for canyon, which lengthens a season unnecessarily as well as increasing the administration process. Even if it should be possible to set up an automatically server switch, we won't be able to use it for our leagues as most of the teams already struggle with setting up a single functioning server.
And therefore I finish up with, what the thread starter started with, as I fully agree with it.

Re: Not asking for much ..
Please don't tell bullshit. Until now, we never run a multi-environment tournament in TM2, simply because we had only one TM2 environment. Your sentence claims something that was impossible to be true...laurens92 wrote:I'm against combining envi's! ET is already combining and that's already bad enough!
And about calling multi-environment tournaments bad, i'd be curious to see your arguments, at least if you have some.
Do you really think Canyon is dead in LANs because we said we will make a multi-environment tournament? That would be silly. Canyon is dead for several reasons, of which i can list those:laurens92 wrote:Everyone wants to combine Canyon & Valley.. But Canyon is as good as dead (in LAN's)..
- The communication from Nadeo claims Valley is a brand new game, which relegates Canyon as an obsolete game (it wouldn't be the case if environments was considered as parts of a single 'united' game),
- Canyon didn't get any free version, hence never got enough players to exist compared to Stadium,
- Tournaments players rather don't like Canyon: most of them came back to United or Stadium, and/or waited for Valley. Those who claim for eSports in Canyon are a small minority and probably not enough to make Canyon rise.
Valley will have its own tournament at ET (the VTC), which makes it a way to grow without being linked to Canyon, if needed. Again, you should read the news before to tell bullshit.laurens92 wrote:When we will combine, you give Valley no chance to grow..
But anyway, i don't believe the link between Canyon and Valley could be harmful for Valley, as the inclusion of Stadium in the UL never harmed the Stadium-only tournaments. It's just an offer we provide to a community of players who like diversity and want diverse tournaments (those guys would come back to TMU if we decided to organize unique environment leagues only).
Furthermore, ET is ET and LANs are LANs. Who told you that LANs will follow ET's schedule? I think they are wise enough to decide by themselves... The UL never prevented any Stadium-only LAN to happen... It will be the same for TWL and Valley LANs.
As long as one environment has a free version and not others, support means nothing because the communities will be of such different sizes that there isn't any possible comparison. Players believe what was possible in Stadium can be extended to all other environments, but only Stadium can claim millions of registered players. And the trend of nowadays is to an increase of the number of LOL-maps players, while the tech/league/hardcore players decrease. A good eSport scene would need a support from the eSport players whithin the TM2 community.laurens92 wrote:We just need more support for these both games
Re: Not asking for much ..
I dont think so, otherwise they would have worked on it / mentioned it / found a solution in the last 2 years when people have said it again and again and again and again and again.Demented wrote:I think Nadeo wants that too.
They just want to bring the stad community over to tm2. canyon is allready dead, and valley is going the same way, less than 50 players online such short time after release is a bad bad bad sign. TMU is dieing too, so the stadium community is their last hope.
