Why would anyone download a torrent for a game that's always been free? You can still download TMN ESWC here:

Re: Pc Jeux Summary
Yeah that's true eyebo. I never heard about tmn cost something. So you obviously cannot crack the game
Over all the time I played tmuf I only saw one player cheating an official time.
So in general I haven't seen much cheating in tmu. So I'm sure they will make it atleast as good as in tmu. And that's already enough
Or have you experienced players cheating much and so destroy the fun of tm for you?

I've already seen so many cheaters, especially since players found out that you can cheat on Puzzle tracks with TMUnlimiter >.<''haenry wrote: Over all the time I played tmuf I only saw one player cheating an official time.
And there was a version of TMN which you could buy, I remember. The only difference was, that you could select between different languages (not only English)

Re: Pc Jeux Summary
Please don't ass-u-me what I do or don't know. You could easily be wrong.Naimisrepus wrote:You don't know because you've never looked for it. And truthfully, neither have I.

I've played both TMN ESWC extensively, and scanned the entire Dedimania database voraciously. I've never seen or heard of the kind of cheating tools that now exist for TMF, and all of the cheating in Dedimania was done with TMF accounts, not TMN ESWC. So I think I do know what I'm talking about.
Torrents aren't relevant. I was and am talking about hacking the executable to the point that cheat tools can and have been built that give players unfair advantages. That didn't happen in the prime time of TMN ESWC, and I merely contested that the strong protection on that game was a factor in preventing or at least delaying that.Naimisrepus wrote:However I can do a google search and find TMN ESWC torrents, which I will not link or mention any further to avoid wrath from the mods. Which means it had to have been cracked somehow by someone.
You're making another assumption. Had you clicked the Wiki link in my previous post, you might have observed that it went precisely to the section where it states that StarForce was broken eventually, just after a very long time. And I read what I linked to.Naimisrepus wrote:And Starforce has been cracked for ages, I'm honestly amazed you seem to be the only one who doesn't know this. It was cracked way back when people were having problems with it bricking their CD/DVD drives.

I think you misunderstood, I didn't put those words in anyone's mouth, they were part of my own black vs. white example.Naimisrepus wrote:No. In fact, that's nothing like what I said
at all
Please don't put words in my mouth if you don't understand what I am saying.
Yeah, I know there was a lot of brouhaha about it, but like most brouhaha on the 'net it seemed to get blown out of proportion after a while too. Anyway, I'm no fan of any particular DRM, StarForce or otherwise, but I'm not against it as much as other people either. As long as it isn't intrusive and doesn't really hurt paying customers, I can understand developers' and publishers' reasons for wanting to protect their business. I am however supportive of anything that will prevent or at least delay online cheating in TM2, just like with TMN ESWC, as TMF shows what happens if that's missing.Naimisrepus wrote:Then you shouldn't be supporting Starforce. Starforce is notorious for completely screwing up the computers of perfectly legitimate customers. For a short time, Starforce DRM was even making DVD and CD drives unusable.
Ok, glad we're still on the same side.Naimisrepus wrote:Okay, that's fine.

And now I feel we've hijacked this thread long enough.

Re: Pc Jeux Summary
Could we please stay on-topic?
If you want to talk about cheating (or preventing it), it should be done in an own thread
So, anyone want to say something about PC Jeux?

Re: Pc Jeux Summary
I argue that the two have nothing in common with one another. Starforce has been cracked for who-knows-how-long. Putting it on another game isn't going to slow down anyone who is serious about cracking it. The fact no real cheats or cracks released for a while is more attributable to watchful server admins, accounts being linked to a key, and it being a free game than people seriously wanting to crack it but not being able to.Xymph wrote:That didn't happen in the prime time of TMN ESWC, and I merely contested that the strong protection on that game was a factor in preventing or at least delaying that.
People losing their actual, physical hardware because they were legitimately trying to play a game isn't something that I think can be blown out of proportion enoughXymph wrote:Yeah, I know there was a lot of brouhaha about it, but like most brouhaha on the 'net it seemed to get blown out of proportion after a while too.
Fair enoughXymph wrote:Ok, glad we're still on the same side.

Agreed, I'll drop the whole subject.Xymph wrote:And now I feel we've hijacked this thread long enough.
So, Pc Jeux
Re: Pc Jeux Summary
Of course, but I never proposed to bring StarForce back, perhaps that's where the whole misunderstanding originated. I just wish for "some anti-hacking measures".Naimisrepus wrote:Starforce has been cracked for who-knows-how-long. Indeed. Too bad my French is rather poor.Naimisrepus wrote:So, Pc Jeux
