I'm going to get flamed for saying this, but seriously guys C'mon....a freakin KEYBOARD for racing games? That is absolutely absurd! So you can set faster times with it...who cares? Why not immerse yourself in the game by using a proper driving instrument....a WHEEL! Seriously, I cannot believe the amount of people who enjoy using their keyboard keys to play Trackmania. My mind boggles whenever I think about it. A keyboard for driving a racing car. That just doesn't make sense. Playing TM with a wheel is SOOO much better, and I have no doubt it will be even more fun in TM2. What is it you guys have against playing TM with a wheel? I don't get why you would want to steer your car with arrow keys. Just makes me shake my head.

Anyway, I am hoping Nadeo will really go all out this time and add proper force feedback support for FFB wheels for those of us that want to really IMMERSE ourselves into this game! I want to treat this game like a true arcade racer. And when I say that, I mean I want to recreate the experience of stepping into an arcade cabinet and enjoy playing with proper racing instruments....a wheel and pedals! If Nadeo does this right, my experience with TM 2 will be nothing short of ORGASMIC!!!

Well, not flamed, but I am going to advise you that if you think your response will be that controversial, it might be appropriate for a re-wording before the final posting...I know that Zooz has used a keyboard on several occasions, and where is he on the leaderboard? ;) Last time I checked, top 5 in the world or higher. And I'm pretty agile with a keyboard--the only problem is they retweaked some of the keyboard readings with TMUF to be a little more heavy-handed...

I hope there won't be huge advantages using an analog controller compared to keyboard in the new envis (island *cough*).

So long as they setup support for XBox 360 controllers (so the game recognises LT and RT as separate instead as a single slider as Windows defaults ¬_¬) properly, I won't have any issues.

Simply being able to hold LT and RT down and have the game recognise two separate inputs would be most appreciated. Not for analog acceleration/brake, because I use LB and RB for accelerating/braking ... just for camera changes.

They didn't do this in TMU - the game sees LT and RT as one value (so holding both down makes the game think neither is being pressed - which is annoying). Hence this post.

There will always be advantages with analog because it's a superior form of input with many more control points to fine tune your input into the game. Keyboard can emulate this with fast tapping so that the wheel doesn't turn 100%. But for maintaining lets say a 30% turn... analog is always going to be superior. It also makes driving more effortless, or certainly less frantic.

I also believe that the difference between analog and digital is one of the main reasons one person will see a track as really fun and frantic and the other will see it as rather boring. It takes a different kind of challenge to entertain an analog driver than it does a digital (keyboard) driver. This is probably why Coast has become such a popular environment as more and more people take up analog driving.

That having been said, I'll stick with keyboard, even though I'm slower. I've played PC games with only keyboard for 24 years, there's no turning back now. It's one of the big reasons I really enjoy TM over games like GRiD.. because TM is actually designed to be enjoyable with keyboard, even if it's not technically as fast if you put the best drivers head to head on both kinds of devices.

I have nothing against analog drivers. But please don't be so narrow minded as to think analog is the only way to have fun. Thanks.

Played the first years with kb and then switched to analogue and it was just like a wow, this is how you drive the game. Therefore i agree with isamus opinion. It doesn't have to be a wheel, but at least an analouge input medium. But on the other side i get nadeos intention to make the game accessible to a wide range of audience. So we will see how the outcome will be. I really hope that there will be still a difference if you are using analogue over digital input methods.

But you are aware of the fact that zooz is driving joystick for years now?

Ladder shows nothing, it's a matter of how regular you play RoC. And Zooz has won GC twice not for no reason, he used joystick for that (for all environments, even for stadium). :p
//funny thing, but only joystick drivers can boast of having GC title so far

I actually use digital input (Playstation 2 controller) on Stadium, but I use analog input (either an xbox 360 controller or my Saitek P3200) for the other environments.

I'm not against keyboard players, because for a while I did play with keyboard (even online) and getting used to a joypad took a while. But really, when you think about it, it's always going to be easier to play a game with a peripheral that's been designed purposefully for its job, rather than a keyboard designed for an all-round use ;)

Also using keyboard HURTS MY HANDS LIKE CRAZY D:

Also also let's be honest. Zooz is fast. I can keep up with him in Stadium but that's about it. :P
