Hm, if the TMF-players are not even ready to switch to TM2S for less than 10 EUR, as you say, I do not believe that a reduction of the price to 0 EUR is the remedy as demanded frequently. :| It seems, 1) the number of online players is more important than the price and 2) the number of online players in TM2S doesn't depend first and foremost on the price.

It's hard to find a solution, if you don't have collected a significant number of opinions. What if Nadeo would make a poll in TMNF/TMU (perhaps right after the start of the game, instead of the advertisement popup screen), such like "What keeps you from switching to TM2S?" 1) It's not free to play, 2) Not enough online players, 3) My PC is too old for TM2, 4) I don't need the new features of TM2S, 5) As long as my friends play TMF I'll stick with TMF, 6) ...

Perhaps, the result of such a poll would be surprising ;)

The fact that MP doesn't get as much recognition as it should hurts me in probably the same way you feel.

It's just a matter of faith/patience.
It has nothing to do with faith, I think in my opinion it has to do with the team of Nadeo not understanding the succes of it's own formula stadium. The development choices for TM2 went exactly the other direction as where stadium was heading too. Thats why the severs are empty.

Why choose a different route for TM2 as stadium clearly told us the way it should heading too (i think like i descibed in my post above)?

And offcourse I understand that the team worked very hard to make this think work, thats what i also hoped for.

And about free to play. There must be some kind of formula to get a lot of money from it. The first thing is to get players, lots of them. What about those 10.000.000 registered players for tmnf? Don't tell me that with some form of a free to play model you can't get a lot of money from those 10.000.000 players.
Block-packs where just an example, I dont know the modern formula's. Look at League of Legends. My God, they make lotsssss of money!!!! They also stick with one model and dont divide their community. They only update there platform with new maps, characters, etc.etc. etc.
Why 3 games for TM2? Just 1 game and expand this with updates, props, maps, blocks (we want blocks, lots of them). Let the community pay for the expanding of the game itself.

In my opinion TM2 leans to much toward the regular racing games. TM should be heading everywhere exept towards the regular racing games.

A mist opportunity, thats what i think!!

Sorry if I sound a little unfriendly, thats not what I'm trying to do here! I like TM a lot.

.... even better, for me and other friends, Stadium is one of those rare gems you would not find very often in your life, thats what I think makes the game crowded.
Like League of legends: do you think people would play this game so much if it where not free to play? I don't think so! Does that mean that the game is not good enough? No, offcourse not, its also a gem, but it does not lend itself to be a game where people should pay for in the first place. Thats not what fits League of Legends and still they make lotssss of money, because its one of those original gems (even if they took there succes from dota ;) ) and found a way to attract a huge playerbase with a free to play model and then let them pay for other things in the game. A win-win situation.

..... and so is the TM franchise, thats how TM should be, thats how the community comes to life.
Start thinking about that kind of formula please. :|

And I know, its easy for me to sa. But you guys have done it once, you can even do it better!!

I still wonder why the environments on TM2 are separated tho, if Nadeo combines them in one game it will be a lot better for them, it's painfully obvious that will.

Because there will be like, 3 envis in one, just like how TMO and TMS was, and more players will buy it because a lot of them avoids buying TM2 games because they don't want to buy every single environment (I made a topic about TM2 valley on another forums and this is what they said most of the time)

LoL is a closed game that you can't modify/add content as you want. That's why it's a lot easier to propose skins to sell because you can't have them for free by a third-party. Instead it's the opposite on Maniaplanet, users are free to create any content they want and to share them with the community.

Because it was easier to release them by environment (as Hylis said, a single TM2 env = 3 TM1 environments in time and cost).
For example (beware, it's fictional numbers), if Nadeo decided to postpone the TM2 Canyon release to release all three environments, it could ask two more years of development to do it. People waited TM2 since already 2 years (since 2009, or 4 years since 2007) so Hylis thought it was fair to release a first TM2 environment and also by that way, let the players to get the environment that they want (because they had people who complain to buy one of the previous TM1 environment pack and to paid for part of the game that they don't like, as Coast for example in Sunrise).
It's like people who prefer Canyon over Valley (or the opposite, or both  ) but they have the choice to buy the games that they prefer :)

Yes, offcourse I know this can't be done anymore now.
Its more that free to play would attract a lot of players and thats what a TM universe needs for content creation.

Maybe if you chose for a free to play option before the creation of TM2 you could have chosen to present skins created by community in an ingame store. Let the community sell skins for a small ammount and take 50 percent from it.
I think there must be some formula's that fits TM as free to play!

And selling official block-packs are way better for the overall gameplay of the game. Close the custom importer.

Sell the editor, etc. I dont know what else. I'm sure you can come up with some ideas.

1. Pay once, get all future updates free.

2. Start for free, pay for every new thing you want to do.

I'll always take choice one, thank you.

Yah. That's one of the reasons I stopped playing TF2. I was sick of all the Mann Co Crates with their advertising.
The eyes of the plush lobster stared deep into my soul. I picked it up, and then I was a panther.

Thats why i stopped Battlefield Heroes. It was an awesome game but without paying you were doomed and there was now way to win a fair fight against another person who paid for better equipment.

Valley could be a major free update on Canyon and call the game Trackmania 2, come on, that way more players will obviously buy the game, I know a LOT of people who completely avoid to buy any TM2 games because they are separated, and you can clearly see the biggest difference between each is the environment and physics of the car, the rest? Well it works just like Canyon, the menu is exactely the same, the features are the same, and I don't see any major feature that Valley have that Canyon don't.

I understand that TM2 takes a lot more work than the envis from TM1 ever was, but seriously, I can't really see how it's worthy to release them separately, it's a bad marketing move.
