Hello guys!
I'm trying to render some clips but all I export are 19 frames! I'm using the editor cut. Is that right?
It works the first time but afterwards it stops. I've tried everything I could, but no, just 19 frames. Same when I save and reopen the modified replay. Is it me or is it a bug?
Is there a wiki for the editor? I would like to know about every function.
Thanks for the help

welcome
, and also welcome to the trickiest tool in ManiaPlanet
With the edit cut you can tell to select only a set of frames, as long as the edit cut is.
As a start there is already the wiki http://wiki.maniaplanet.com/en/Replay_editor
but you'll certainly find much more information on the net.
You could also upload your replay so someone else looks at it, or if you don't want to do that,
just post a screenshot of the editor.

Well now for some reason it worked, then it stopped again. This is annoying. I guess it's a bug in the editor. Same thing if I have multiple editor cuts, it just renders the first 19 or 25 frames of each one. Where should i report it? Do they fix things fast?
And what about calculating shadows? I can't select any option now, so I suppose it's a 1 time calculation for all the maps.
The tool it self is easy, something different compare to other game's solutions. Render was pretty fast on max settings but it's useless to work with something broken!
The wiki didn't help much. Anyway if you have any suggestion please don't be afraid!
Re: I'm getting crazy with this replay editor
I don't think it is a bug, since others were able to use the editing cut properly.

Regarding the shadows, you are right: they have to be calculated before using the reply editor.
Either it is your map, then just edit it, do the shadow calculation and save it.
Or you use the command line option as explained here: http://forum.maniaplanet.com/viewtopic. ... 88&start=0

This is the setup:

Only 37 frames
Is it correct?
I tried again and this time it made 37 frames. I can't see anything wrong there!

Re: I'm getting crazy with this replay editor
Which settings are you using to render?
Could you please upload the reply so I can try it on my machine?

Re: I'm getting crazy with this replay editor
which codec do you use to render, can try to use xvid or x264vfw?
Do you have the same effects with other codecs?
Do you have on the second page with your clips, which could be 37 frames long?

Re: I'm getting crazy with this replay editor
Codec is indeed important. But I don't think that's the issue, as it's only showing 37 frames at the top of the ManiaPlanet window when it goes to render it out. Even with the video split across multiple files in the case of a lossless codec or uncompressed, the information at the top of the ManiaPlanet window will represent all frames being rendered, and not the ones per file.
TMarc asked about your render settings. That would also be interesting to see, as a very low framerate could answer why it's only doing 37 frames.
That setup is correct. It should render the part of the replay that is contained between the two keyframes of the Editing Cut block. The only thing that I could see that might be causing a problem is the Time block. You could try making a backup of the replay, and then deleting the time block and see if it renders correctly without it, as the replay will always revert to normal speed if the Time block is gone.Nofe92 wrote:http://i.imgur.com/gbZLVrw.jpg

No. You can compute shadows inside the replay editor by clicking the lightbulb at top left. But I always use default quality, because high usually fails.TMarc wrote:Regarding the shadows, you are right: they have to be calculated before using the reply editor.

Re: I'm getting crazy with this replay editor
WAIT A SECOND!
Is the parameter attach to motion blur the clip duration??? Really???
I mean who in this world would put right under motion blur with no space a parameter expressed in seconds?
I thought it was his way to calculate how many frames to use to create motion blur. I know it's usually expressed in samples but it's just attach to motion blur! Like dof samples is to dof enable.
But why is it there in the first place? A duration is useless if you don't have a starting point. They should just remove it from the interface.
But ok, I'm sorry if I wasted your time. But here's other questions.
If that duration parameter is not for dof is there any way I can set the number of samples for depth of field?
I know it's useless when you edit with external program but it would definitely help with clips at fixed speed
Is there a block to export camera motion, or import it?
Do you know if I can export the map to an 3d file? Like obj
Do you have any explanation for: camera path, camera effect script, cam fx inertial tracking, triangles2d, fxcamera map, timespeed, interface (whitch looks like an editor for scripts), vehicle light or trails?
I know what you might think but I would like to see if there's any tool I can use to make editing easier and more complex. I wouldn't mind helping the wiki with a real description of every aspect of this editor.
Well thanks for your time and sorry for all this mess, I just didn't realize the function of that box.
ps. I love the visual at max settings (196xaa, 196x dof, raycast ecc ecc). I like the idea of making fragmovies but I can't deny that I would like to have just a little more control over the tools and a little improvement over them.
This kind of editor is what many games should have, so why not making it perfect??

Re: I'm getting crazy with this replay editor
Good you found the solution for the enigma
You do not need to apologize
Basically shooting a movie happens with moving cars or characters or moving cameras, and then the 3D engine does the motion blur automatically (if it is enabled in the 3D video options).
Now you have to understand that the Replay Editor can also be used to take advanced screenshots. And here, since it happens at standstill, the 3D engine cannot make the motion blur - since there is no motion in fact.
Therefore this parameter was introduced, that lets the editor blur the screen, depending also on the camera settings.
Unfortunately there is no better editor inside the game.
An alternative would be to render raw sequences to videos and use a external editor.
You can export and import parts of the replay as such, and with them camera trails, but there is no export of the 3D data to be used with external 3D animation programs, as far as I know.
- camera effect script: camera shaking etc.
- cam fx inertial tracking: how the camera behaves w.r.t to the tracked item (i.e. target, car, ghosts, etc.)
- triangles2d: simple flat polygons, you can use them to draw things, but it is complicated
- fxcamera map: [no idea, not tried yet]
- timespeed: you can increase or reduce the playback speed for the duration of this effect
- interface (whitch looks like an editor for scripts): [no idea, not tried yet]
- vehicle light: switch on and off vehicle lights [it was reported to be buggy, e.g. the light never goes off after turning on, to be confirmed]
- trails: display the custom trails from the starting to ending point of this effect
Unfortunately we have to wait and see if Nadeo changes anything.
