I said from the start, "The post is valid on many points, but it globally takes time to achieve progress in all the fields that cover Maniaplanet."
And I am really happy that you clarify that you do not intend to say that you would do a better job than us, because I don't think it's what these topics should be about.
If I want to explain Maniastars, for example. The guy who is making the maniastars in the scoreboard is not the guy that is working on ladder, first major points. And the complexity of Maniastars has nothing to do with the ladder that should work for custom maps, custom modes, custom titles, custom servers, custom moderators, custom mode setting, custom size of team or individual depending of the situation etc. Maniastars are done by someone on the script part of things, and so the priority is different at some points: we built the next scoreboard layout, with information such as stars and echelons, in order to fill up right the number in them later, so we have some persitence in the work done. We have converted all the scoreboard of TM recently, and it would be difficult to argue against the priority of this, since TM players are eager to be able to create more easily custom modes, in addition to the fact that some bugs are fixed at the same time. And if we just fix the bugs, instead of making all the new scoreboards, we would lose time on long term, because we would fix things that are there to be replaced. And so on.
So, meuh was quite right when he wrote: "Maybe it is not the same person in Nadeo who is doing this things. Maybe stars are easy and fast to make but other features take a long time. We can't decide the priorities because we don't have the knowledge to decide." But with additionnal things, like long term scoreboard design, package of things that are done together, like the echelon system (priorities can not all be just micro) etc.
By the way, I made a post in french last week about some stuff that has been done in recent weeks, like the loss of points at high level for the ladder, a better continental re-rank, allies on the fly and a demo system to welcome players in Elite and have a good balance of people who would get the game. Download of Elite replays, echelon system, update of interface, rules to welcome players and else are also recent development topics that are, I believe, good things.
What I am trying to remove, and say that it is useless, is that sort of comments:
I really don't think it's the best part of your feedbacks. The idea/vision behind MP2.0 and some features are just wrong/bad and should be done completely different ( read my first post )!
(...)
example:
Hylis: Developing the title-system takes a lot of time.
Dreammy : titles shouldnt be made in the first place and should be done completely different ( with maybe(?) a giant serverbrowser )
I am defending since years that long term motivation to play is crucial, but like I am saying, it's a really complex approach in many, many ways. You would spend a day with me at the studio, and probably leave without writing so easily: "I dont think anyone can convince me that Im wrong."
I took the time to post in your topic, because it was built on many points, with positive energy, expressing the desire of long term motivation that I share a lot, etc. After, it's just about misplaced comments, in that topic or elsewhere, that I really invite to avoid to make, since it simply breaks a lot of the abtility to share. And if you simply disagree that these comments should be avoided, tell me, and I will act as a consequence of it, instead of asking to be careful about it.
