IE is the only browser I use on this computer and it is what I am writing this message in. It is not offline.

Ok, this is good.
But do you have any proxies configured?
The only thing one could think now is that the firewall or your antivirus / internet security is blocking ManiaPlanet.
Some tools can't be disabled at all, and from past issues, we know that e.g. Avast and F-Secure are not really handy in use with ManiaPlanet.

Try unticking this: Launcher -> Configure -> Advanced -> Network -> Check Internet connection.
Does the error message appear instantly or after some delay?

No proxies.
I have tried disabling firewall and antivirus.
It is Avast that I use but I have been using Avast with TM for 3 years on this computer with no problems.
Genuinely I cannot think of a single thing I changed on this computer between the 5th November, when it worked, to the 7th November when it didn't.

Thanks, already tried that to see what happens.TGYoshi wrote:Try unticking this: Launcher -> Configure -> Advanced -> Network -> Check Internet connection.

No error message, but the program just hangs while it is trying to connect to server (with no movement in the progress bar) until you press cancel, and then the game opens in offline mode.
Re: [TM2] CONNECTION - maniaplanet thinks I am offline - hel
Solved the problem... although still remains a bit of a mystery.
I completely closed my Firewall - ZoneAlarm free, and then it worked.
This is weird as
1) I have used ZoneAlarm ever since I had this computer without a problem with TM and it hasn't updated recently,
2) I had already tried disabling the firewall within ZoneAlarm and it hadn't any problems
Perhaps a recent update in ManiaPlanet that has rendered it incompatible with ZoneAlarm? I notice the front loading screen has changed so there has been an update.

Re: [TM2] CONNECTION - maniaplanet thinks I am offline - hel
only translations were updated actually. interface inside stations is loaded from a server, not from your computer.

Re: [TM2] CONNECTION - maniaplanet thinks I am offline - hel
Not only translations. The Stadium frontpage in maniaplanet now has links to servers which weren't there before.
Anyway.. before 05/11/2013 ManiaPlanaet and Zonealrm work together, after 07/11/2013 they don't.

That's right, in the menu you can see the status of your favorite servers and also other information.
Who knows what ZA has discovered there.
Could you see in its configuration what was blocked specifically?
I'm happy to see you have found out and that it is working again!

The only experience I've had with ZA is it BSOD'ing my PC
.
Could be that the updated exe didn't register in the firewall, it sees it as a different exe. Or something silly like that.
