Is this something Nadeo have alluded to recently?
I just find it odd that a game built on its online community is actually working against itself by splitting the online community up by forcing them to choose which environment they wish to participate.
I just find playing the game a chore nowadays with it being separated so decisively.
In my opinion, Nadeo should have chosen a TM2 core platform with each environment being a seperate DLC module instead of the mess they now have.
Mixed Servers?

Re: Mixed Servers?
This is a decision that was made because the community wanted more customizability, more freedom of choice, and apparently enough players said they would not like this or this environment of TMUF, but they had to pay it.gimpymoo wrote:I just find it odd that a game built on its online community is actually working against itself by splitting the online community up by forcing them to choose which environment they wish to participate.
But exactly this it is already what thy did now! Why is it a mess?gimpymoo wrote:In my opinion, Nadeo should have chosen a TM2 core platform with each environment being a seperate DLC module instead of the mess they now have.
Btw. please do not start same discussions again and again. Not you personally in this case, but this topic has been discussed a lot already.

E.g. regarding multi environment servers see here:

Re: Mixed Servers?
If it was optional DLC, players would chose what they wanted while retaining customisation. When TM/TMUF was released, such an option was not a viability.TMarc wrote: This is a decision that was made because the community wanted more customizability, more freedom of choice, and apparently enough players said they would not like this or this environment of TMUF, but they had to pay it.

This is not what they have already done. What they have done is segregate each environment into a seperate SKU, thus limiting choices to both those playing single player and multiplayer. Who benefits? A core platform with optional DLC would have been a better platform offering more choices that what is currently available would it not?
Maybe that points to an issue which needs to be addressed?TMarc wrote:Btw. please do not start same discussions again and again. Not you personally in this case, but this topic has been discussed a lot already.![]()
Regarding one of the links you posted, I fins this post:
Such a badly misguided comment and rather short sighted.Wormii wrote:1. Will you start promoting the community websites (dedimania, tmx, mania-exchange) more and forget more unnecessary things like steam workshop?

yeah, you can find various ways of commenting in the forum
Still I think that the current implementation is exactly what DLC means.
You purchase a key, and if you already have ManiaPlanet installed, it is enough to assign the key to the existing account, and then the data necessary for the new game will be downloaded automatically.
I did this since Canyon for Stadium and Valley, and I had not to install ManiaPlanet new.
In Steam however this was solved different, there I agree to your point. But it is a limitation of the ManiaPlanet+Steam combination, with the Steam-specific key handling.
And with the custom titles as well it is DLC: you enter a ManiaLink, and the corresponding title pack is either downloaded automatically, or leads you to a nice microsite of the author. Go see Stunters for example
As announced by Nadeo, the next update of ManiaPlanet will enhance the possibilities of ManiaLinks and custom titles, yet we have to see what this means exactly in a few months.
