Soo, you have been advertising ManiaPlanet as the home of user-generated content for Mania games, but what will happen to TMX (TrackMania-eXchange)? One of the oldest TM community websites holding hundreds of players just sending their tracks in and chatting on forums. Add PlayPal, PlayPal Online and just the history of TMX.. it has to be one of the best unofficial communities in any game.. ever.

After being around since March 2004 (or so), should it die this way?

nah, it won't die in my opinion ..

tmx is related to tmnf/tmuf .. so as long as these games still exist - tmx will also do!

i agree. even in TM2 timelines TMX will create a TM2 section i guess. it won't die.
just related to the RS maps from CMC MixD, new maps will follow as in common ...

I don't know what map sharing possibilities will be offered in all 3 games within this new network.

If Nadeo would be happy to see an outside exchange, then the other developers, including myself, are more than happy to continue development with TMX 2.

Assuming that this new network doesn't overrun said plans or possibilities to do so.

well, were hoping to continue developing tmx for tm2 but until we get more information on what their plans are, we dont know. Hopefully we will get some decent answers from nadeo and ubi on this? As it stands our development on tmx2 has been put on hold.

since 2003 nadeo has worked with .gbx files so maybe they might continue with them...

That's not the point we're trying to establish. We would like to know if it's possible that TMX will be continuing or we will be overrun by the map sharing which is said to be included in ManiaPlanet.

well i hope for tmx that they can continue with them but as the trailer might have said its more user generated so i think players might uploads maps ingame and then upload the maps on to wards tmx.

The TMX community has been a huge part of Tracmania for many years, and while I am not active on the site very often, I (like almost every other TM player) use it on a regular basis to get maps. However, if all content is distributed centrally, it will need to adapt and evolve to be relevant to TM2.

Maniaplanet needs to implement many systems that TMX already uses, or it will frustrate existing players whoare used to the excellent search function, leaderboards, comments, and I guess there needs to be some sort of rating system (although this opens up a whole other debate...).

It all depends on how the import system in Maniaplanet works - as long as it is possible to bring files in from outside the software, TMX will be able to continue.
