Too bad that the update moved again ...
Don't understand it that much, the date of GA wasn't just announced but already some time ago.
Will you be doing stuff in the meantime to keep the other games (beside ShootMania) alive?
But anyway, best of luck and hope to hear from you guys soon

Re: Maniaplanet Update #3 information
As our league with races each weekend started last Sunday on our SRE title with more than 60 participants, I'm also very much in favour of an as smooth as possible update process. It has been a long time of disconnected development.
I would be very pleased if I could help out with tests and reports in a closed beta as a title maintainer, server hoster and player.

So, the idea would be to release everything in one time, just after the Gamers Assembly (19th to 21st of april) but to still open the universal demo after, once it's stabilized.
Our target was in 2 weeks, but I think that 4 would have been better. Now, it's 8 weeks, because it includes the Gamers Assembly.
Be 100% that I am sorry since years of these delays, and I can only say again that I am sad of it. I really hope the entire update will be as good as necessary to make Maniaplanet a must have for tons of gamers in the future.
I really hope you thank god Before you go to sleep every night Nadeo, for your niche Group of customers who really seem to accept and support your Product no matter how poor you perform.
One thing is for sure, without this tiny Group of people, who seems to fear no effort (basically doing your work for free) to keep your ManiPlanet alive, you all would have lost your jobs a long time ago.
Good or bad, others will have to judge that, i Stopped playing last fall and put my 7 year TM-career temporarily behind me. Temporarily at the time as i was waiting for news for the "drastic measures" that was needed in order to get the game back on track.
This for me, was the last Nail in the coffin. I now find Nadeo a too small developer with not enough Resources to manage the size of the Project they have and call Maniaplanet. What happened to you Nadeo? You showed some brilliance in the past but it seems to me you got lazy and greedy and no longer realize your own limitations.....
There are for sure other games to play from developers who actually take their own Product seriously and amend what's fawlty or non-functioning within due time. i chose to take my Money elsewhere from now on.
Again, i really hope you cherish and appreciate the few players you have left and especially the ones who come here, day after day, month after month, patiently supporting you and doing what they can to keep all this alive on your expense. Personally i would have been on my knees, bowing and thouching the ground for them. Also considering there are not so many left, i would have invited them all to Paris to visit you and show them what you are doing and how you work.

I wish you the best of luck and sincerely hope that you fully understand the full value of the above.
Re: Maniaplanet Update #3 information
You can stone me, I do not care...
And once everything is moved and once again we have to wait longer.
For 3 years I have to live with bugs, the worse in the meantime have been fixed instead. What interests me a demo, I paid 3 years ago for Canyon, bought in the meantime SM and Stadium.
It's a joke that a demo is more important than existing customers, something I do not call straight business-friendly.

I LOVE the update, I HATE the waiting-game... but yeah...
Anyways, It would be awesome if I could be in the closed-beta
I mean it. I would love to help.
We, forum-readers, dont know NADEO that well, so its hard to judge... All we, customers, get is impressions (an idea of NADEO) so I base this reply on the impressions NADEO gave me.
The way you work is very strange. You guys are probably working really hard, but I think the way you work is wrong. Waiting 8months for an update is unacceptable. Especially when the game is struggling... ( I know its new compared to COD etc etc )
I said it before, but you need to keep your gamers happy. Show them your working, show them your improving the game. All we had the last 8months were promises followed by delays and delays.
How hard is it to show a screenshot or a short video? Anything really. Keep us hungry! Make the waiting attractive please. How long would this take? 1-2 man-hours?
My noob-advice to NADEO as an experienced gamer is to release more small updates (like every 3months). The way it is now is not working. I play this game every day and trust me when I say that many players arent happy and when they find a new game they will simply leave. ( due to the waaaaaiting )

Re: Maniaplanet Update #3 information
While I understand all the frustration in that long waits for updates I would like to point out two things:
1. While the ManiaPlanet franchise has defects (like every other piece of software under the sun), it is more than playable and usable
2. We are not subscribing to the game, meaning paying sustaining costs to guarantee updates on some set incremental timeline.
Because these games are complex enough, with two types of massive content creation tools (map editors, script editors and video editors), an extensible dedicated server, and since none of us have our hands in the code of the game, none of us have any idea what kind of time it will take to get said updates completed. Complaining about it doesn't change the complexity which is what really affects the timeline. I believe Nadeo truly cares about releasing quality. It's not perfect, but it's high quality (like many other products). No update will fix ALL of the defects, but they do fix valuable ones and give valuable updates. Sure, it's not always the ones we individually want fixed, but they don't leave us completely disappointed.
That said, if it really makes you feel better to vent... then by all means, "Allons-y!" Otherwise, cut them some slack, realizing the complexity of the situation and, as mentioned before, the amount of resources to tackle said complexities.
I think the post from Pedal was a way to praise the loyal and dedicated fans, but said whilst knocking Nadeo's performance. I've seen other larger companies take as long of longer to provide patches to their games too; and they're always welcomed when we come. But I will say again, since we're not "subscribing" to the game, but paying a one-time cost for the titles up-front, we aren't entitled to updates on a consistent timeline basis. So in a sense, "beggars can't be choosers."
So I will continue waiting patiently and support where I can; and I hope everyone else will continue to do the same.

Re: Maniaplanet Update #3 information
i understand you can wait GA, but you do update juste after? i organize a lan party the 2-3-4 may, the version of gam are stable for this date?
Re: Maniaplanet Update #3 information
In my opinion this is just another cop out from Nadeo.. There will always be something in the future that could prevent the update.. There is already 2 LANs announced for May, and as evilmarmotte said, does that make it unstable for his tournament? Are we just going to postpone the update indefinitely? The update has been pushed back time and time again and frankly I'm getting a bit sick of it. After GA we will be told we are waiting for LanEx to finish before the update, then cap arena and so on. Get your act together and release it and stop with all ur bullshit.

+1 for novationx be a beta tester!novationx wrote:[...]Anyways, It would be awesome if I could be in the closed-betaI mean it. I would love to help.[...]

I am completely OK to wait if it is necessary for quality. Let them take as much time as they need. That said I'd rather have smaller updates more often, than a big one after long time without updates.
