I don't think the last two have much bearing on testing, as it's always done in English.

I'm not sure that they want an application and especially here.spikeballthehedgehog wrote:Time for me to cast my hat into the lot on why I should get closed beta
1. I've beta tested both Canyon/Storm when in closed beta (Bought access)

3. I can speak a good amount of French
4. I'm part German/Austrian

I can tell you that there's a list of people that NADEO has in mind for inviting to the closed beta. Neither do I exactly know how many names are on that list nor whose names are on that list. Not really sure if NADEO is taking any applications, they usually chose people that are active members in the community, such as staff members of community sites like ManiaActu, ManiaExchange, Mania Carpark, etc.
Shootmania Alpha1 had a good 100 people being invited, chances are MP3 Closed Beta will have around the same user base if not more. We will see =)

We'll see what the beta brings. Who cares about mp one month earlier anyway?

Re: Maniaplanet Update #3 information
The beta tests really are best suited for those that know how to provide feedback about the features they use/test. Playing early is fun (if you can get over the defects still being discovered and fixed) -- but the important thing is really giving the best feedback to Nadeo so they can fix any issues before the thing is released into the wild, so everyone else will have a positive experience with it when it's in the hands of everyone.
So if you try to petition to be a part of an alpha or beta (for any game) -- it would be best to not only provide which features/areas of the game you might be best to test against, but to also show that you're good at providing valuable feedback. For instance, giving detailed step-by-step instructions on how to reproduce a defect you find, or step-by-step instructions on how you envision the workflow of a feature of the game/menus/mediatracker/etc going through.
But I think Chris92 is right. Nadeo keeps good tabs on those that have been very active with the game in many different facets: Community sites, forum moderators, server hosts, LAN activity hosts, content creators, skilled players, big clans, etc. and will choose wisely who will best serve to help them release a quality update. Remember the ultimate goal, and don't feel like you're not listened to or cared about if you're not chosen for it. If it really means that much to you, specialize in some area during the off-times that aren't surrounding a release and you'll probably get picked on another go-around.
I'm looking forward to the update regardless and hope we'll get a definitive list soon of what is in it. I know things have been mentioned in the past, but some back-and-forth has happened since then, and I unfortunately haven't had time to track it all.
Have fun in the meantime!

I will have no chances to join the closed beta, because the focus is on Shootmania.
BUT if you need someone for the multi-environment-title in Trackmania, I would like to join.
I had the idea about the custom TM2 United emulation (ok, maybe steeffeen had it at the same time, don´t know^^).
