Track statistics

Post by eie »

I just thought it'd be nice if you could see the track statistics, like how many hours you've spent building on it, or how many checkpoints the track has. As of today we only get to know a few things, such as Author Time and copper cost, but I think it'd be nice with more info. =)

So what do the people of trackmania think of my suggestion? ^_^

I think this is a nice idea. Some statistics were always needed in TM, even the thing how many hours we've played in a moment and total. This might be a kind of big revolution in TM2.

Yeah, this would be good. :-) I'm in favor of this.

Actually there are statistics in TMUF, but only for the complete game.
So some statistics for each track would be cool, indeed. Then you could see how much time someone spend editing this track and you could be able to make competitions with it. "who builds the best map in 1h" :D

And it would be written in red if higher than 255.

Would also be nice, if such things could be integrated into the header of the file (like it already is with author time, trackname etc). Would be quite neat for websites like electronic tournaments, to have this information readable and ready for admins to select proper tracks for competitions :)

The number of checkpoints can already be extracted from a track with the GBXChallInfo script, albeit with the assistance of a dedicated server. It would however be nice indeed if it can be simply read from the track header.

Some additional information which I would like to see in the file header:
- The current nickname of the track builder (it's more known than his login)
- The build date and time
- Style, routes and difficulty (defined by the builder like on TMX)
- The number of used checkpoints (to simplify anti-cheating)
- The authors length of the track in meters (to calculate the average speed of the track)
- The belonging of the track to a track pack, campaign or e-sports tournament
- Usage of custom blocks (in addition to the filerefs)
- Usage of ManiaScript (and used version)
- Builders recommended retail price in Planets (for ManiaPlanet internal track exchange)
- Maybe a alternative download path for the mod (if the original link is death)
- ...

All present header infos can be determined with the Gbx File Dumper tool (see my signature).
