Headshots in Elite

In Elite there's no reward when making a headshot, at least not that I know of. As a result many players aim towards the lower half of the skin because it's easier to hit there (more so before MP3 I think), which looks awkward in my opinion.

I was thinking; if making a headshot with laser instead of giving a 50% faster reload time, like it is regular for normal hits, make it 75% faster or maybe an instant reload? Not that I have the skills to really utilize this adjustment, but maybe pro-players can use it to clear the pole very very fast. That would be cool to see!
