After 40% off it's still €12??? Why not a proper 80% + 'steam sale', this isn't some premier title that people are going to happily drop money on it... it's been out a long time and it's lost any 'launch' value. Imo this game is worth at most, up to €5 max - not a disrespect on the game itself but just because of the market and what casual gamers are willing to pay. Personally free to play would be better but I guess if Nadeo have to make money in this department, something is better than nothing. I don't know their stats but I can't imagine they make that much from this game anymore (new subscriber wise)

Personal thought here:

The issue with Steam is that it let think to the players that a game quickly lose (a lot) its value with time while it's not necessarily true and that's a bad thinking that Steam learned to the players, but in the reality, the people working on the games (all the games) still need to earn money to be able to work on the next game (or the content of their released game). The Steam promotions and sales do a lot of damage to several studios/publishers (and they start to understand it).

For example the current thinking for most gamers are: "Why i should buy this game now while it'll be on sale/promo in 3 months at -50% off? I'll wait and buy it later... if i remember to do it." and during this time, the studios/publishers get less money and can prevent them to work on the next game (or to add content in an existing game).

(Still personal thought) About Maniaplanet, i don't think the games has lost value since the release, on the contrary Nadeo has added a lot of contents on the games, for free, without hidden fees and i think this work grant them the choice to sell the games at the price they think is right. Remember that for 20€ only you have access to a game with a lot of sophisticated (and yet pretty easy to use) tools like a script editor, a video editor, a map editor, a weapon editor (without the need to know something in 3D/particules systems), the support of graphic mod, support of dedicated servers, server controllers to add functions to a server and much more. This is really a good price for the access of those features.

I don't think there is a game/plateform which allows to have all of those features/customization for this price (and to be as easy to use as on Maniaplanet).

How many of the players uses these features? I bet that 85% of all SM players never opened the scripteditor, map-editor, video-editor, weapon-editor , etc... The reason is ( you call it simple ) that those tools are complex + gamers just want to game.... Maybe thats a little bit harder to understand for you because you are a developer(?)...

For me: I paid 20€ for Elite, Joust & Instagib. Thats how it feels. And it feels like it should be €5. I never use any of the tools, because believe it or not... Its all chinese to me & I'm simply not interested. You could say I paid 10-15€ for tools I never use. Gamers are kids/students who dont have this money.
So I understand Sens and I understand NADEO... And I think the best solution/price doesnt excist yet :)

Not all gamers just play. Some try to develop new stuff with these tools. Every player has some tools they would like to use.

I would rather pay full price for all features than to pay each feature separately. These tools have their purpose to create more modes and not just Elite, Joust and Instagib. Yet, Instagib is created with script editor.

Imagine that they didn't include script editor, map-editor, video-editor or any other editor at all. You would have only Elite and Joust for 20€ with no custom maps, no custom modes, no custom anything. Even if it's 5€, it would be a waste because you can't do anything else than play.

Killing Floor, CS:GO or Insurgency with cheaper price.
My Gamemodes:
MP4 - Countdown, Firefight
MP3 - Reduction, Overload, Flashpoint, Territory, SM Race, Escape
MP2 - Search & Destroy, Oscillation, Instagib

I Believe with a sale that you actually reach people that really didn't intend to buy the game in the first Place. Ofcourse there will Always be speculators that wait for the best price but i honestly Think this is not so big. Maybe so on a big title like BF4, where they couldn't afford to buy it at, or a couple of months after release-day.

But cmon, for your MP-games, 10-20€ is really low budget.....i seriously doubt anyone sits and wait 3 months to save 5€.....

This is the time for big business and sales-promotions are a big part in that. As a producer you need to adapt. This is the same for all businesses.

I also strongly Believe that if a Product is good enough and brings value to the customer, people will buy it and pay what it costs.

My opinion is : If I had the option to pay €5 for Elite & 5€ for the 5other official modes & then maybe €5 for the developer pack; I would definately choose that option. What I also would do is give people a taste of the developer tools via timelimits or maybe a "lite" version.
You also start your text with: "Not all gamers just game". I said 85% of the gamers just game. And I believe that number to be true. I'd rather develop a game for that 85% than for that 15%.
Just my 2cents.
