Latest version, create local never starts a server

Post by npcostes »

Hello,
Bought licenses to play w/the kids and while we can play online just fine, when we try to create local servers via the game client, we get stuck. This is wether we are online or offline, create local just never gets us into a game.

I'll create a local server, pick a map, and start. Then I'm sitting at the screen waiting for players I guess.

The players see my server on the LAN (we're on the same subnet, same room, same switch, no firewalls on any of the PCs), then join and on their clients it says "Joining..." but it never finishes. The game never starts.

I see there is a dedicated server and it seems straightforward to set up but I'd like to be able to just run the server from the game client as well.

This is the latest version from steam.
Thanks
Nick

Be sure that the game is whitelisted in the Windows Defender firewall as well as the ports authorized on your routeur (even in LAN) : http://wiki.maniaplanet.com/en/Frequent ... aniaPlanet :)

Hi Cerovan,
Thanks for the quick reply. None of the PCs on our home LAN have the windows firewall enabled. I can start a dedicated local server and we can all play. I am just trying to start a server with the game client because I'm hoping it's easier to change the maps and game modes.

There seems to be some issue w/the client-based server launcher.

We are not having much luck.
Thanks
