[Blocks] Blocks with Attachments

Post by banjee »

Here is the idea: There are a selection of blocks that have attachments such as mounted machine guns or mounted sniper rifles or grenade launchers. Then if you want to make a really strategic map you can place them at certain points in the map and they will boost the power of that section, sort of. For example, put the sniper block in the far corner up high to snipe the whole map, or put the grenade launcher near the center of the map to spam grenades into the enemy. :D

But as far as we know there won't be any weapons inside the game. But a set of blocks which change your weapon handling sounds interesting and it seems to be the same as in this article.

Translation
In the last CanardPC, there are some details:
- Surround "generic" containing grass, stone walls and concrete
- Some special blocks: block start / respawn with a clickable screen, block and block checkpoint flag
- Weapon base resembling a rocket launcher
- When walking on a block "marksmanship", we get a sniper that we will keep as long as we remain in the box
- When we enter a tunnel, we get a close combat weapon that we will keep as long as we remain in the box

Part Change of weapons, is not very clear ...
- Do you have a weapon at a time?
- Is there a block "pickup" to get a new weapon or is entering an area that provides an automatic weapon?
- Does each block is associated with an area (a weapon) or is it necessary to define areas of the map by hand?
If i understand it right, you will get your weapon, depending on the blocks used in the map? This would be indeed a very interesting way :)

What bothers me is this:
- When walking on a block "marksmanship", we get a sniper that we will keep as long as we remain in the box
- When we enter a tunnel, we get a close combat weapon that we will keep as long as we remain in the box
So, does this mean, there is a sniper spot and I only have the sniper rifle if I stand in it? That would suck. When you get to know the map (which shoudlnt take that much time), you always know where a sniper could be. I don't want the map to decide which weapon I have.

This would be my thoughts about this block thing.
The game should aim to attract as many people as possible (eSports and casual players). To gain the attention of casual players, you need to keep it simple. Therefore i would decline the amount of weapons or the class you can choose to play. If you remove the class choice by setting the weapons individually to each map, this would be a huge improvement, because it makes the game more simple and increase the possibility for map builder to create interesting situations.
Just place a sniper spot in the middle of the map and do a capture the flag, where the sniper is able to shoot at both flags. As a result of this, you would have a very nice fight about the sniper place and the flags at the same time and you could design the way you want your map to be played more efficiently.
