Distance - TM opponent?

Post by Omnixor »

Distance is a survival racing game that combines the intense action of arcade racing with the exploration of an atmospheric world. You control a unique car that allows you to boost, jump, rotate, and even fly through a chaotic and twisted city. The world has a mysterious history, and as you explore you'll be able to uncover pieces of its past.

The game is a spiritual successor to the multi-award winning game Nitronic Rush, created by ourselves and 8 others while attending DigiPen Institute of Technology.
We've had blast creating free updates for Nitronic Rush, but unfortunately DigiPen owns all rights to the game and there were a lot of technological limitations in that engine.

We're building Distance from the ground up. This allows us to now include many fan-requested features like LAN/Online multiplayer, a powerful new level editor, the ability to be on other distribution platforms (like Steam, Origin, etc), and tons of more content!

Ridge Racer Unbounded had map editor too and from the trailers it looked awesome and it made you believe that the end of TrackMania was near, but in the end, it was a garbage. :0010

Well let's have a seat and wait. In my opinion, nothing there is a ripoff of tm. Your car can fly and change the gravitational-direction by putting different blocks. Intresting, but I think it looks boring.

you can change gravitation yourself, not by blocks. and if you think it's boring, try Nitronic Rush. Distance is just a sequel.

Seems like even crappier handling. It also looks like they can't stick a single jump. To much cutting in that vid too.

I wish them the best and I hope the game is a huge success. I really look forward to trying it when it comes out! Nitronic Rush is incredible. I still play it nearly every day. If Distance is as good, but with multiplayer and an easy track editor, then it will be a huge hit.

There needs to be more great racing games with good track editors like TrackMania. The larger the market for such games grows, the more players may also take note of TrackMania. The racing genre needs more fun games like this.

It's good for everyone. It's good for players and for Nadeo. I personally don't see it as competition. That would suggest it will steal sales away from TrackMania. And I think that's doubtful.
