Before I give a guess, let me remind you of the following:
What we see of TM2 (just Canyon) is a fraction of what the completed TM2 will have. Sure, the game has all the features of a complete, standalone game, but is part 1 of at least 3. Think about it: if every environment cost $50, that's $150 for the whole thing! By today's game price standards, that's outrageous. Then again, so is my assumption.
I understand that more man-hours went into Canyon than will be necessary for subsequent environments because certain things are consistent across environments, or at least we can expect them to be. I still believe that all of the environments can still cost near the same amount, if it's not exact. The most loyal TM fans will maintain their patronage through the subsequent environments. If they can deduce the percentage of users that they predict will buy all the environments out of those who buy only Canyon, a balance, standard price for all environments could work.
However, there is the easy, charge more for the first one and then much less for its successors. While this would work, I find that $50 for a fraction of a game is a bit steep (although I would pay it).

If you would have read the forum, before posting you would have found this one here. And there are many more quotes, which indicated a price ~20€. Not official yet, but most likely.

We have some blocks in advance, but it is better for you that we release later, since we will work on the environments of the upcoming year in the available time. Environment production cost around 8 times more today than on Original. It is not an excuse since we try to bring even more players in, but it is just to give you an idea. Meanwhile, the price may go from obligatory 45€ for three environments to 3xoptionnal 20€. In addition, you can probably buy a pack of planets to get a small reduction or you can make manialink more active ^_^
Anyway, I don't want to get too much into the details because it can change. I have decided to say my status now, but it could be annoying to discuss all this. It is a little like with the DRM, I have not yet started to make my opinion that I have to debate on what could be a protection system next year. For me, it is a little too early to discuss about this.
@mammbos: I think hosting solution will be done by itself. We will most likely see 'all env' hosting or 'single env' The first one will be compatible with the regular players (who really benefit and like having diversity) or passerby or specialists (who rather concentrate on one environment to say)
Re: Less Means More?
I understand that the price will be between $15 and $30 ... my last post was a rambling that started as a reply to the previous posts. Also, I'm tired ... so don't think I'm oblivious to things here
