We do habe this option in Speedball, but so far I really don't like it.
First of all, obviously, the spawns need to be balanced. I don't even know how Combo maps look, but in Speedball, having symmetrical maps, it restricts the usefulness of the spawns A LOT. That's only a mapping problem, but sth to keep in mind.
The really big problem in SB is, the spawning is random, therefore you don't even know where you are, and the god damn spawn is right in your stupid face. Omg, it's so irritating, always running out the wrong way, because you don't pay enough attention, while on normal maps, they way to get out the spawn is already in your DNA, no need to think anymore.
So in my opinion, for multi spawns to be enjoyable you'd need to have a see-through spawn or just have the players choose their spawn. I guess the second should'nt even be much of a problem for Combo, would it?

I think if its done right , it can be good...
Ofc if its completely random it will always suck.
Its up to the mapper to find some good spawn-locations
