Oceania: What happened to our servers?

Hi.

So firstly this is kinda of a question/suggestion at the moment, as being a shootmania player I would really like to enjoy the game again, but that can't happen right now as there are no servers for oceania players to play on. I would like to see shootmania active in Australia again but at the moment I don't think that it can happen without a server to play on. So I would like to know if there is anyone who can host a server for elite/royal perhaps or if a dedicated server could be put up at all.

Hi Boo,

I'm the leader of the gaming community Unreal Aussies and I am currently setting up a Shootmania server I intended to run when we had one of our co-op nights (we choose a game and play it for just that night). Depending on the resource intensity of Shootmania I may be willing to leave the server up as long as it doesn't interfere with our Teamspeak connection which is on the same server.

We've had Royal, Seige and Mellee servers running earlier this year but after two months, we'd had only about 40 different players in total. Most of them were overseas players.

So those servers were shut down and we really don't think it will be worth our while (or the cost to me) to reopen them. I have a dedicated host server in Brisbane which I run game servers on but I don't have spare time to waste these days on setting up & running empty servers.

We do still have a small number of Trackmania servers - much less than the fifteen we used to run - and they are pretty quiet now too.

The lower amount of Tm servers is fine (and I join every now and then to claim some records) but with Shootmania, you basically need a server in your region to be able to play if you live in the Oceania region (due to low bandwidth and general internet quality), hence why I went inactive for abouts 2 months.

Well like I said the melee server is up. But I'm having a lot of difficulty getting Royal or any other non-default title to work

Well we've got 3 running now and we're going to leave them for a while to see if anybody plays.
