It's been said a thousand times in the SM forum too, it's confusing and annoying.Demented wrote:Blanking out things that are only useful in SM will make my TM experience better and likely the same the other way around.
I'm trying to be constructive, so I hope I haven't just pissed a bunch of people off.
I can kind of live with it for the moment (for more than two years now actually), coming from TM myself, but it's really gotta go all this mixed terminology.
Quite a handful that's true, but I think the reason for this happened 3 years ago and todays development doesn't effect it too much anymore.Demented wrote:Also, how many people have quit playing TM to switch over to SM? A lot I suspect.
Let's be honest, Canyon is not quite the awesome envi people hoped for, when TM² was coming. It's fun, I bought it, but Stadium is simply a way superior envi. I played TMF Stadium for years, but it just got old, the bugs were just so darn annoying I didn't wanna deal with that crap anymore. Canyon just bored me right away and there were actualy no features in TM² that made it any better than TMF (at least back then).
So I stuck with TMF for a while until SM came around the corner and I switched the game. Other people did play Canyon for the time being, but then changed over to SM, because, I think, Canyon just doesn't have to grip people for as long as Stadium did (doesn't apply to everyone, we're talking the masses here).
Some SM players started playing some Stadium again, when it was brought to MP.
Long story short, I think it's TM's fault that people stopped playing TM, not any other game, even though MP should finally honour that most people don't wanna be bothered by the other game while playing their favourite...
What would have been the right move with TM² to begin with, is a proper successor envi to Stadium. One that is as varied, as easy to start with, but as hard to master as Stadium. One without a huge load of bugs and with some features that definitely make it a better envi than the original Stadium.
That would have gotten all the attention of the TMF players back then and really translated that hype to a bigger playerbase.
That's my opinion though...
