Maniaplanet Update #4 - wishlist

Re: Maniaplanet Update #4 - wishlist
Dry - Wet - Snow option for each environment.
Instead of making a separate Snow env. Why not just add an option for Snow to all environments? Also, I don't think I've ever seen a "Wet" environment, with wet paved roads, puddles on roadways and mud in the dirt and gravel sections.

Re: Maniaplanet Update #4 - wishlist
1. Separate player models and horns. (So you can choose if you want to download horns but not player models)
2. Separate game settings for the different games. TM2:Canyon, TM2:Stadium, TM2:Valley and Shootmania are not the same game, why don't they have separate settings?
In Trackmania I want to download and see player models, in Shootmania I don't. In Trackmania I want to have high graphic settings, in Shootmania I don't. (and so on)

One more litle idea I got today:
1) Make the custom sign selector support folders!
Would make selecting the right one so much easyer if you have many signpacks and also many separate categories within one pack.

It is supported afaik.v6sarally wrote:One more litle idea I got today:

If you place a folder like "folder1" and have a picture like "sign.dds" it will show up like "/folder1/sign".
Small wishes for comfort:
- REFRESH button on everything! (Mediatracker image/sound/clip/replay/skin selector, maybe a general button in the top-bar settings, so you can always refresh content)
- Reduce the maniaplanet start-up time. Yeah I know, not possible in the current state. But I believe it is caused due to my amount of titlepacks which are over 1GB (or not far from it). Anyway, Maniaplanet takes from 112 seconds to even 130 seconds (over 2 minutes) to start up. A second time start up isn't faster either. Note that the raw Maniaplanet runs on my SSD.

Re: Maniaplanet Update #4 - wishlist
If you start Shootmania over Steam you get asked if you want to play Shootmania or start the launcher. I think it would be better if the launcher would start directly. U will not loose any klicks if u want to start the game without using the functions of the launcher and if you want to access those then this would be much less confusing and easyer.

This actually is really interesting and is exactly what I want too.plopp wrote:1. Separate player models and horns. (So you can choose if you want to download horns but not player models)

The neverending waiting game has to stop.
Re: Maniaplanet Update #4 - wishlist
Are you sure? I just tryed it again with the two MX signpacks in my "Any\Advertisement" folder (the first one has all signs in one folder and the second one has diferent subfolders for diferent colors and so) and all I get is all files from all folders in one row without even showing the folder name before the filenamekillaprodtm wrote: It is supported afaik.

See the screenshots in there: http://web.zone.ee/mrmuff/sb_files/TM2_sign_select/
EDIT:
2) I would also really like faster startup time, because for me it takes several minutes - It seems that this is because on every startup the game reads trough all user files (or is it all files related to the game. including the cache, user and game files?) and stores the SHA256 checksums into "User_Files\Config\checksum.txt"
My user folder has 10264 files in it totalling 8,45GB (most of the space is taken by MOD's and most of the big filecount is made of MAP files and I have not yet even got much into exploring titlebacks...). Now reading trough all this on every startup to create/check hashes/checksums is definitely gonna take some time and trash the hard disk in process.
So my guestion is why is this even necessary? - Those are custom user changeable files! For game's own files, it could be to prevent modificatons, although even then reading trough all them on every startup is a pain but if it must be, it must be I guess. But for user files??
Before the one update that made startup so much longer it was like once the checksum.txt was created, the next startups would not take that long anymore - was it because the allready stored checksums vere not checked again then, for being still valid?
